    Kia Ora! (Hello)


    My name is "Rori" Pokeka I am originaly from Aotearoa (New Zealand) Southern Island Tai tapu. I came upon your web site by try to find a pow wow here in Kansas.
    I moved here years ago to visit my Nanny who moved here to New York. I met a Native girl out there and we moved out here to be nere her family.
    In many ways our Maori people have same history as youres.
    I try to teach our ways to people that want to learn. Out here not to much Maori I am think of going back home.

    I hope to read a lott while here. I see many humor people in you to.

    It is thanks to your culture that I started carving bones.
    Chi Meewetch (many thanks)!
    Before I just did the same as my neighbours, tossed the bones out, now I smile when I finish with a bone carving, thanks to your culture I am still learning.
    Listen to my heart, not just my mouth! The most powerfull thing we can do is,,,share,,, if we don't it dies with us.

    It is the year of the bear, I am sharpening my claws and will no longer tollerate harrassment.

    Born in Winnipeg raised in the Pikwakanagan, Deutschland was never home! Army brat that had no choice in a parents duties to home and country. I Too Serve our flag and work for the uniform.
    Stand behind our troops or stand IN FRONT of them.

      Bone carvings? yes. You must have steady strong hands/finger.


      We have a many great bone carvers. my pap gave me hei matau (like a good luck charm in a way) before I came to USA that he make. Jade is what we use a lott to.

        I also use soapstone and antlers. It widens my horizon and it stops me from being labled. I saw a site with the fish hooks your culture makes, really cool! I carve feathers with and without fetishes inside of the feather design.

          I've said it a million times before, Maori's and Natives are exactly the same, the only difference is that cool a$$ accent Maori's have! =)

          Theres alot of pow wow's here in KS. Check out the Calender section, theres always something going on.
