So im trying to find help in finding my father. Facebook was fruitless and my mother was no help, not this time anyway. My parents divorced when i was 2 or 3 and i was raised by my mother. I did get to meet him when i was sixteen. We did a few things for a few months, i went to a powwow with him. Although i regret that i hadnt shown much interest in it at the time because i would love for the chance to go to another one. He gave me a some pictures of him dressed in native attire and gave me a book called the way of the spirit which i still have. If i recall correctly he was given a name yellowwolf but im not certain if he was adopted into a tribe, i do know his surname when he married my mother was vega. I think he did mention something about but its been too long. We eventually lost contact with him and i havent seen him in almost 15 yrs. He could be dead for all i know.
I would love to find him again and tell him what i found about where i come from and answer the many questions i have but if he is no longer on this earth then i would at least like to know so either way i can shut this door. What should i do.

Greetings and welcome to powwows.calm ! LOL I swear I've never been to Delaware and I did not have sex with that woman !I believe blood quantums are the governments way to breed us out of existance !
They say blood is thicker than water ! Now maple syrup is thicker than blood , so are pancakes more important than family ?
There are "Elders" and there are "Olders". Being the second one doesn't make the first one true !
Somebody is out there somewhere, thinking of you and the impact you made in their life.
It's not me....I think you're an idiot !
sigpic
There's a chance you might not like me ,
but there's a bigger
chance I won't care

Hi Chris! I'm white too but I learn a lot just reading what people say and then thinking about it. I think much of what I have learned is the opposite of what I always thought so it is good mental exercise! The folks here are pretty nice, and if you inadvertently dig into a sensitive subject they will tell you. If you don't fly off in a huff you will do just fine. :)
There is a geneaology forum here too, you might want to check it out for tips on searching for your ancestry. Josiah has some really good posts on genealogy. You would need to find out where your dad is from, grandparents, and so on. I don't know if he was Native or not...there are white people who pretend they are Indian, either as a hobby or because they just really want to be. There are even sort of fake Indian tribes (one of those surprise things I learned). If you are open to accepting your history either way I think you can finding meaning there.

by NDNKIDZA few folks here know about the abuse i suffered as a child. So I thought the first place to start is to get it out and have a place to discuss all types of abuse with other pw.com folks. I know it is a very difficult thing to talk about.. and i know i may not receive many posts to this thread and i...

by Lakota WiyanI wanted to write this here, BEFORE I have to write it in the Memorials. I want to tell about my Uncle V., who can't stop drinking.
When I was little, he was the best Uncle in the world, and as I grew up, he was always there for me, proud of me no matter what I did. I knew I was his favorite,...-
