In the 60's, people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is
weird and people take Prozac to make it normal.

                Best northern tradish dancer

I voted. For the life of me, I can't understand why someone would nominate a traditional (male) dancer who is not moral and upright. The one nominee I see is one that goes around to all the pow wows--drinking, carousing, even getting left at one of the pow wows because when it came time to go home his ride couldn't find him. When they get to be a certain age, they need to start thinking about the tribe they represent, the dance category they represent, and also children and grandchildren they have and try to maintain a certain image that other Indians can be proud of. Sounds like a good thread to start.

                          N.Traditional Dancer

BlueSkysMom has a point in reference to the moral conduct of the dancers that have been nominated. My motto is Aim Straight clean and sober all the time. Generally, as an older dancer it was a requirement to follow the traditions of the elders to dance. If you remember these dances come from societies that had strict membership requirements.

Not to detract from the original thread, but somewhere this isue of personal conduct needs to be addressed in another forum.

                            Traditional dancers carry images

Of course Terry is a good dancer. So was Ben L. and look where he is today. Would you condone his behavior? C'mon people get your heads on straight. Anyone of our traditional dancers need to think about who they are representing. Just because they are good doesn't mean they can get away with anything they want. Think about the values, norms, lifestyles they represent. The Native pride, honor, respect, admiration, and role models they are suppose to be upholding. And are they doing a good job?
