Playoffs! Time For Predictions And Abuse!!
Ok Hoopsters, at last after a seemingly interminable season, the playoffs are about to start......SOOOO it's time to predict who will sip champagne. and who will suck.....feel free to offer comments, sarcasm, innuendo, tidbits/etc....but please don't post a pic of Charles kissing 100 year old Dick Bavetta !!!!
Eastern Conference:
Detroit Pistons (1) vs Orlando Magic (8) : This series will be Detroit in 5 or at the most 6...there is a severe talent mismatch here....and the seeds show why....Detroit, while not as powerful as the 'bad boys' teams of yore...is still a solid contender for the title, while the Magic are here because the playoffs are bloated and 16 of 30 teams make it....enough said. Memo to Rasheed...try to reign in that temper and drama class lessons whenever a foul is called.
Miami Heat (4) vs. Chicago Bulls (5) : This series will be the Bulls in 6, IF they run the floor and use a constant attack motion. The Heat played better than expected, but they have a LOT of older and out of shape players who can only excel in a 1/2 court style.
But if David Stern directs the officials to call fouls whenever D Wade passes by a Bull within 5 feet, then this could get interesting...as a series, but boring watching him shoot free throws again without any contact.
Toronto Raptors (3) vs. New Jersey Nets (6): This years Raptors look a little more like a T-Rex, and less like a carcass...and are improved BIG time....the Nets are an accident waiting to happen, and though JKIdd is one of the great point guards ever, they don't have enough talent overall to advance....T.O in 5 or 6
Cleveland Cavaliers (2) vs. Washington Wizards.....The Cavs have LeBron.....and a cast of stiffs, but this guy is a GREAT player, and will carry the Cavs past the wizards, unless they reall y are wizards and cast some kind of spell on him. Arenas is a greats scorer, but the wiz are short of talent.
Western Conference:
Dallas Mavericks (1) vs. Golden State Warriors (8) hmmm flashback! in 1975, the Warriors were the 8th seed, and were 42-40 in the regular season (just like 2007) and yet they won the NBA championship!!!! With Rick Barry shooting 1000 percent, and a rookie named Jammal Wilkes running all over the court....
Can history repeat? NOT A CHANCE!!! they will get destroyed, but have nothing to lose, nobody figures this series will last 4 games!!
Utah Jazz (4) vs. Houston Rockets (5) Houston in 6, if the guard play is as it was in the second half, and if TMAC and Yao are healthy....where's Stockton and Malone when we need them?
San Antonio Spurs (3) vs. Denver Nuggets (6) San Antonio, with Dallas having a career year, hasn't been noticed. Stand by for THAT to change...they played very well in the second half, and are poised for a title run again. Spurs in 5 .
Phoenix Suns (2) Los Angeles Lakers (7): This is about as big a mismatch as can be imagined, with the Lakers trying their best not to be in the playoffs at all. They do have Kobe, who will score a ton....but they stand about as much chance of stopping Phoenix (barring major injuries) as George Bush getting 90% approval ratings....this one is Phoenix in 4 or at most 5, if they get lazy and Kobe goes off......Comment

Got to go with my Phx Suns again this year - regardless of all this talk (again, and again) about poor defense. One with the most points wins - either outscore or outrebound. I'll go with outscore any day, any time.
