Game One Eastern Conference

HEAT 91...PISTONS 86....HEAT GO UP 1-0...

Well now, Detroit loses game one at home, so the HEAT will win this series easily, right Bill Walton??
Let's recap why a home loss makes me GAIN confidence in the PISTONS ultimate victory in this series:
1. Shots from floor Detroit 31 of 82....Miami 36 of 64.....free throws
PISTONS 19 of 22 HEAT 14 of 21.....turnovers PISTONS 6.....HEAT 16......so Detroit gets 18 more shots, loses the ball 10 less times, and loses the game ....how? can't throw the ball in the ocean...and there were MANY open looks from 8 to 20 feet...and a TON of bricks thrown up there...why? Miami's great defense? naaaahhhh it's called fatigue
2. Detroit will shoot MUCH better than this, but MIAMI is playing at about peak efficiency...and Miami wins by 5.....despite the PISTONS doing their 'gang who couldn't shoot straight' routine..
3. Miami has NO answer for Rasheed Wallace, when he goes in the box (low post) instead of being in love with the 3 pt. shot
4. Detroit NEVER does anything easy...but have shown, and will again, that they never give up...and will be there in the end.
5. There isn't that large of a supply of Brylcreem in Michigan, so Pat Riley can't maintain his 'OPEC' hairdo much longer...
6. The HEAT are always capable of internal explosions and dissensions, esp. when things don't go well...
Stay tuned...this series in FAR from over....and the good guys WILL win....a fishing trip is already planned for Miami w/ Kenny Smith and crew...

Inside The Nba Conference Finals

Suns up 1-0 on Mavs...
Geez these guys NEVER cease to amaze....now, they lose Raja Bell...to add to Kurt Thomas and of course Amare Stoudamire...and they're in the conference finals..and WIN!! If everybody was healthy...and playing with this intensity..they could be 82-0 some season....and all you (you know who you are) who think Steve Nash is over-rated....ask Mark Cuban....what a finish to this game!
and he and Dork Nowitzke were BOTH on the MAVS once...hmmmm
And not even ONE person, besides yours truly, considered Shawn Marion as an MVP candidate....there are VERY few men who are 20 pt. 10 rebound types consistently....and he's been ABOVE that during the playoffs too...while defending much taller (7 foot Dork Nowitzke) or quicker (Jason Terry/Josh Howard) types...damnit, this guy has done everything except sell hot dogs for the Suns this year...

Pistons beat HEAT....series tied 1-1.....
Hmmm Detroit comfortably ahead...and then Miami gets 17 pts. in a couple minutes...to make it look closer than it was....how'd they do that? Well lets see:
The zebras allowed tackling as a defense for the HEAT.
Dick Bavetta (head zebra) ignores a time out called while PISTONS are inbounding the ball because he's concentrating on the players in bounds.....so then, Chauncey Billups is rammed, and thrown clear out of bounds on that play..and on his azz...but this isn't a foul....and HEAT get the ball back.
Memo to David Stern....Bavetta is 100 y/o and CAN'T SEE!!! isn't there a retirement plan for zebras, or are they on social security??? Then, he adds a verbal insult to Tayshaun Prince, who questions why no time out was granted!! did he (Bavetta) get a 'technical' or an ejection, or a fine? of course not!! he's a REFEREE!
Anyways...this detracted from a fine game, and good effort by both teams...but as predicted....Detroit evens the series....and this series will go 6 or 7 (If Bavetta returns) but Detroit will prevail...

Inside The Nba Conference Finals

WESTERN CONFERENCE
Dallas beats Phoenix...series tied at one...
The key here is now this series goes back to Phoenix for two...where the tempo needs to be (and will be) faster for the Suns...but they must also find an answer for Josh Howard and Jason Terry...that's where Raja Bell was missed most...on defense.
Still looking like a 6 or 7 series....and if they get healthier and Bell and Thomas come back....The Sun(s) will rise, not set in the West.

EASTERN CONFERENCE
Miami wins game 3, up 2-1 on PISTONS......
Pat Riley has exposed the chink in the PISTONS armor...with almost no low post offense in 1/2 court....against SHAQ..who played very well, dominated the post. And the rebounds went +13 for Miami...
Rasheed Wallace did a 'Jimmy Hoffa' this game...and disappeared, if he isn't found...it will be hard to win. Chauncey and Rip did most of the scoring tonight, as Tayshawn Prince was neutralized...so far, the adjustments Riley has made have outclassed Flip Saunders...HOWEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Detroit almost NEVER wins game threes, for what ever reason....it's like a phobia or something....
And Kudos to the officials (as JD said) geez do you think they read my humble assessments
And D Wade shot the ball exceptionally well...and when he and Shaq both play well... it's a nice inside/outside combination and VERY hard to defend....But the PISTONS are the PISTONS and will NOT give up, or lay down....and will bounce back...but Wade must be covered...
The saddest thing is seeing Ben Wallace go thru this...he's the heart and soul of Detroit's defense...and rebounding...but just can't cover Shaq 1 on 1 ...(who can?) and his free throwing ability (or lack thereof) is a REAL liability in a tight game....Miami was deliberately giving him hard fouls whenever he would get the ball in the low post...and has little sympathy for him....
And remember,the HEAT are always capable of blowing up too....so still sticking w/ PISTONS in 6 or 7..

Can't see the games but read about them online...I'm not too worried about the Pistons as they have come back to win when they are down a game or two. Except against my BULLS back in 1991. got swept that year. #23!

Yeah NDNSOLDIERBOY...I painfully remember that series! and am FULLY convinced that MJ is he GREATEST player ever...nobody close...not Magic/Bird/Dr J/Wilt....nobody.
Bill Russell has more championship rings than anybody and I do think he was a great player...but those old Celtic teams had a BUNCH of hall of famers....
And years ago, Detroit was horrible most of the time...but did make the conference semis...with Bob Lanier/Dave Bing/Curtis Rowe...but lost in 7 to the BULLS of Chet Walker/Bob Love/Norm Van Lier...and crew....so there is NO LOVE lost between these teams...and since the BULLS are improving fast..and have the 2nd pick in this year's draft, plus another first rounder...I expect them to be much improved...and FAST...
Hey have a GREAT memorial day....if circumstances will let you...get home soon and safe..and remember, this holiday is JUST for guys like you.....and be proud of what you are doing and have done...MANY in America are proud of guys like you.

HOW'D THE MIGHTY PISTONS, WINNERS OF 63 GAMES, AND EASTERN CONFERENCE DEFENDING CHAMPS THE PAST COUPLE YEARS COME TO THIS POINT? LET'S TAKE A QUICK LOOK AT THE STATS:
PISTONS MADE MORE BASKETS THAN MIAMI, 30-28 AND MORE 3 PT SHOTS 6-5....AND HAD LESS TURNOVERS 10-13, AND MORE REBOUNDS 36-35....SO WHAT GIVES? HMM FREE THROWS MIAMI 28 OF FRIKKIN 47!!! AND DETROIT 12-22....SO PLUS 16 FOR MIAMI FROM THE LINE....WITH D WADE GETTING 15-19...
