With Powwow season and the subsequent webcasts coming fast around the corner it might be a good idea to verify that your computer is up to the task of receiving the webcast streams. Below I have come up with a simple checklist of things that you should do to help prevent software related problems that could keep you from enjoying the broadcast.
- 1. Make sure you are on a high speed or broadband connection, 56kbps dial-up is not sufficient enough for streaming media.
- 2. Keep your operating system (Windows, Mac, Linux...) up to date.
- 3. Make sure you have the latest version of Windows Media Player or at least the codec installed properly.
- 4. Check the settings on any security program to ensure that it is not blocking Windows Media Player or any of its components from accessing the internet.
- 5. Run a complete virus and malware scan as viruses and such can interrupt or prevent you from viewing the stream.
- 6. In order for the webcast to function properly you must have JavaScript and cookies enabled in your browser.
