  • Re-enlist?

Would yall re'enlist in war time if ya had the chance? I'm thinking about it.

I already did. I went indefinite on my contract which means 8 years active and not that 4 and 4 thing most folks do. Did 1 so 7 more to go already. I will have 22 years in when I'm done. The day I'm getting out is 30 April 2012.

I've been in only a few months, and I want to retire. I want to retire a dirty, old, greasy HMCM.

I would have re-enlisted for the Gulf War if they would have accepted me then.... and I know where I would have been stationed too, because I would have volunteered for it and they had the same type of equipment I was trained on .... but that was then...

if I had been able to stay in until retirement, I would have been asked to re-enlist on the eve of this war and most likely would have taken the same station ...

I can't say that it's best to do so... it all depends on your personal circumstances and your feelings about the war. Do what your heart tells you to do and ask the Creator for help with your decision.

Man folks need to realize the military is in the business of killing and being killed, and dishing out death and destruction on a silver platter. If you survive all of that, then Uncle Sam will be gracious enough to send your butt through college or whatever it is you think you enlisted for. People need to understand that is the purpose of the military is to wage the instrumentation of war, and nothing else. I think it's ridiculous for individuals to claim objector status, when they knew the possiblity of going in harms way was certain. If people are so hard up for jobs, the last time I looked UPS is always hiring. Shooooooot I didn't join the Navy to plant flowers and hand out relief packages to refugees. To quote John Paul Jones... "Give me a fast, small ship because I INTEND to go in harms way".

yeah right..... not all veterans get the benefits "promised them".... I still have folks at colleges tellin me I'm eligible... I know I'm not... I have no education benies from the service... I have to make them look it up so they know I'm telling them the right info.

You have to read the fine lines of the education contract they give you and follow it or you don't get anything.....

I'm not going into details as to how I'm not gettin any education benies.... it has to do with timing.

Blanket Party.... We went to Louisana in 1998 and a soldier in our unit from Hawaii has his wife run over his foot on "accident" of course... Come on!!! Fort Polk? What a
friggin' idiot. Some people work so hard to get out of deploying. If they applied themselves, they could make the deployment easier by accepting they are in the military or just go AWOL. We had 1 soldier left all his field gear on his bunk and it was all laid out, looking like it was ready for some inspection. He even left his ID card and a note saying he was done with the Army...

See, if it wasn't for my baby girl- I'd be wit ya's already. What kills me is her daddy so scared about he's gonna have to take care of her by himself,(he's not American) god forbid he'd have to become a man and do what's necessary for his child, see, he loves his freedom so much. But he had to move here to get it, and then talks so much isht about this country but is not willing to return to his own. And because I am willing to carry on the duties of my ancestors, he tells me I am wrong. He believes that I want to do this to further my education or my skills- he doesn't realize that ppl who join the armed forces, well most ppl who join anyway don't do it for the money, cuz there aint much to begin with, and if they don't know that then they are truly misguided, ... I'll continue later

follow ur heart....my husband was thinking about it too but decided not too. we r big on family stuff and we have been away too long, its time to go back home(for a little while) let baby get to know everyone. thats one of the main reasons-my husband wasn't here when i was pregnant or when he was born. he doesnt want to happen again.
