They wouldn't take me due to health problems when I tried to join at 18. Would if I could. Have a daughter and son-in-law serving. Youngest won't be able to serve due to health problems.
Courage is just fear that has said it's prayers.

nope not a chance. i don't fight for what i don't believe in. I also think violence just leads to more violence and solves nothing.

i'd go to prison if i can't be a draft dodger.

would that mean i don't believe in freedom? Now what's wrong with the question, anyone?

              It's an oxymoron.

If they're drafting you, they're basically saying go to war or lose your freedom (go to jail). Freedom is defined as being free of restraints and being able to choose. They're not giving you a choice on wether or not you want to go to war, they're telling you to serve and if you don't there will be discsiplianry actions. So how in the hell would i not believe in freedom?

I believe i should choose wether or not i want to fight this war or not.

                  redthunder...

'Freedom of choice' has been given to us by those who have a)fulfilled their military obligation due to the draft, or b)enlisted in a branch of the armed forces because they believed it would ensure our 'Freedom of choice'. I would not like to think of what this country would be like if we lived under a regime that would control our everday mode of life.

I had the honor and privilege to enter basic military training with the last group of draftees in 1972. I enlisted, but would have been drafted.

As a veteran, I know I have ensured you the right to have your freedom of choice.

Why must I feel like that..why must I chase the cat?

If women were included in the draft then yes I would go. I actually believe that women should be elligible for the draft but I realize this is a controversial topic and probably many would disagree with me.

Do you believe that under no circumstances should an individual be drafted? Or that in some situations it might be warranted?

Since they don't draft women, I have to say no. As the mother of a son who somehow got 2 draft cards with 2 different numbers-again I say no. Neither one of us believes in the thing in Iraq and I would stuff him in the trunk of my car and head for Canada with him. I lost a cousin who was more like a brother in Afganistan in Oct. of '01. He ran search dogs and was with a special unit hunting Bin Laden. Since they weren't supposed to be where they were when he got killed, they lied to his son and told him his Dad was killed in a "training" accident. Last Sept. my nephew died about 15miles from where my cousin died-also hunting the same vermin. He was Cheyenne on one side of the family and Italian on the other. He had an incredible gift for languages. He looked and spoke like an Afgani. He was doing things under orders, out of uniform. So I refuse to give any more of my blood to this war. If somone comes over here, I'll throw a rifle into my son's hands and grab one too and head to the beach to defend this country, but otherwise, Uncle Sam can kiss my dog. For those of you who have loved ones there, I will say prayers for their safe return and hope you never walk in my shoes. I am passionate about this, but I mean no offense to anyone. Sometimes, I can't see past the pain of losing parts of my heart.
Take nothing for granted. Life can change irrevocably in a heartbeat.

I will not feed the troll-well, I will try.
