It was a warning. Freedom comes with responsibility. There are elders and children reading this. If you have no respect for them, thenI have no respect for you - online or in person. If you respect them, grow up and act like it.

    Cry me a river.

I don't think they should be banned and she had a right to voice her own opinion...dang there were white supremecists on my state capitol steps holding a rally a few years back and they argued freedom of speech just to be there! Didn't hear of nobody calling them unpatriotic or terrorists at the time! I still like the Dixie Chicks' music all yall that haven't heard bout them where ya been? They got a Grammy this year....probly the fact that they're a country group though is why! Anyways no use gettin bent about it and making your blood pressure rise...cuz we ARE going to war...it don't matter what the lil people think if they are for or against it...just like our votes didn't matter in the last election...LOL

Exactly, couldn't have said better myself. Unfortuntely war is part of freedom, and the move towards a war right now is just an example of that resposibility. Exactly why the ban of the Dixie Chicks is going on now. Disrespect. Cry me a river? Huh?
Edit, yes edit them, part of your resposibilities, step up to 'em. And by the way there was a better way to get point across don't have to go out on a power trip and be asinine, better return to jr. high and take a course in sensitivity. Fool.

I happens to like the Dixie Chicks, but I don't care who made the comment they still have a right to express their opinion. Last time I checked this was still America.

Yes, I was offended, but now your apology is accepted. I assume this does not change your overall message of your post, though, so we should continue to discuss. . .

What comes to mind when I read what you are saying is questions: 1. What types of media do you read? Is it mostly what you are served in this country or do you read things from international sources?

              2. This war is to prevent terrorism huh? Then why are we not making war on ALL those other countries that support terrorism? Why are we not up in North Korea's face? Have you heard of the terrorism going on in Israel at the hand's of the Israeli forces? Why are we not up in their face? (Yes, I have specifics.) What about the "terrorism" that goes on in this country? People sound like it's all dreamy over here and the rest of the world should live like us. WOW! That sounds just like the Eurppean mind-set when they came to this continent!

              3. We created these past two monsters that have come to terrorize our country. Bin Laden. . .trained by us to fight the Ruskies. Huessain. . .trained and helped by us (and supplied) to fight Iran. Where were we when Heussain was engaging in chemical warfare on Iran? Why was this "peaceful nation" not petitioning the UN back then?

              4. If you think this war is JUST about terrorism, then, well. . .all I can do is smile and know better, HONEY. :Chatter

And asking me if 9/11 means nothing to me? What kind of bull crap is THAT???? You want to throw some emotional, patriotic smoke up to hide behind your supposed points or you really want to get down to it and debate the issues, BABY????

                1. I read as much as I can get a hold of. I know that a great part of the world is against this war but they were also against stopping Hitler when he started taking over countries. Also most of the world being in closer proxemity to Iraq needs to worry more about the war directly impacting them. My belief is that when all is said and done you will find more support than is being shown.

                2. Don't be surprised when Iran is the next country that we go after. Then Saudi Arabia will be focused on. As far as North Korea goes don't think for a minute that we haven't already started discussions with them. Iraq has had 12 years to comply with United Nation regulations and hasn't made any progress to speak of. We will get around to other dangerious areas as we can without putting our people in unnessesary risk. Also before you comment on other countries spend some time in them and decide if you really prefer their style of living. I have a friend in Belgium that pays 80% (eighty) taxes. I have relatives in Norway who pay huge amounts of money for socialist medicine that doesn't hold a candle to ours. Ask Sadams brother in law about freedom of speech. And ask the Israeli school children how frightening it is to take a city bus to school. We aren't perfect in America but it is a damn site better than most of the other countries I have visited.

                3. As far as creating them that is partilly true. However at some point we need to correct our mistakes. At the time that we created these monsters they were the least of two evils. Kind of like partnering with Russia in WWII. And much like we work with Saudi Arabia now. (Don't think they are our friends. The government of Saudi has been instrumental in teaching the people to dislike Americans.)

                4. Your right, the war isn't just about terrorism. It is also about freedom of speech, choice and a government that represents the people of Iraq. Spend some time looking at the attrocities committed by the government of Iraq against the people of Iraq.

                5. Bush is not fighting this war for oil. This is one of the least thought out arguments that I have heard. If it was about oil we would have taken over Kuwait when we were in there. We would be drilling in Alaska. And we wouldn't have stopped in Iraq 12 years ago. When I hear this argument I only see someone who dislikes Bush and hasn't really thought out the reasons behind this war.

Lastly I belive that anyone who is rationally discussing the war, both for and against is Patriotic. That is part of what makes America the greatest country in the world, the desire of it's people to question its' leadership and strive for the best that can be had.
                One vote wonder.

I staunchly defend the right of anyone and everyone to speak their mind. I just ask that everybody keep it clean here, but by all means express your views! Thank you ALL for your understanding and cooperation. I just don't want this to deteriorate like some past threads have, once the mud slinging starts. I trust y'all know what I mean.

                  :agree?:

And I APOLOGIZE for coming across power-trippy and foolish.

Personally,I don't understand why the media & alot of other folks are making such a BIG deal out of a few remarks made by a country/pop singer .You would think we have more to concern ourselves with right now .

As far as the majority of Americans being in favor of Bush's policies and future action concerning Saddam & Iraq, last time I checked the polls , which was yesterday, it was pretty evenly split in regards to whether we should go to war or not. Which is a moot point now considering it looks like we will be @ war in less than 48 hours!!!

Country Singer's Criticism of Bush Draws Fans' Ire

this came from the Entertainment news yesterday.

Country Singer's Criticism of Bush Draws Fans' Ire
                        New York Times Syndicate

The lead singer of the Texas-based country trio the Dixie Chicks apologized Friday after telling a London audience she was ``ashamed'' of President Bush, remarks that stirred an uproar among conservative fans and prompted radio stations to boycott the group's songs.

``As a concerned American citizen, I apologize to President Bush because my remark was disrespectful,'' Natalie Maines said in a statement issued in Nashville. ``I feel that whoever holds that office should be treated with the utmost respect.''

The Grammy-winning trio found itself engulfed in a public relations backlash after Maines criticized Bush's Iraq war policy during a London performance and told the audience, ``Just so you know, we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas.''

While anti-war groups endorsed Maines' position, the remarks provoked an outcry from politically conservative fans who form a lucrative pillar of support for the .MDNM/trio, which have been riding high after winning three Grammys last month.

``I think the response from the American people, particularly Texans and country music fans, pretty well speaks for itself,'' said White House spokesman Scott McClellan when asked for the president's reaction to Maines' statement.

Maines, who has never shied away from asserting her opinions, at first stood behind her views in a statement that the Chicks posted on their website Friday. ``I feel the president is ignoring the opinions of many in the U.S. and alienating the rest of the world,'' she said. ``My comments were made in frustration and one of the privileges of being an American is you are free to voice your own point of view.''

But hours later, she retracted her remarks after radio talk show hosts roasted the group and angry fans vowed to boycott their songs.
                        Everything is gonna be alright!

                        Be blessed - got love???

Super, your right. We should recoup the $100 billion dollars that this war is going to cost in months, maybe less. Not to mention the humanitarian aid we have pledged to give afterwords. And it should only take a month or so for the stock market to regain the money that has been lost in the last three months while the country was uncertian about the war.

Fredom of speech isnt an option when you have people that will kill you for saying something.

What about North Korea? I am hoping that they have a wild card or a plan B for when we send in all our troops to iraq and then the North Koreans come in right up our butts. Korean War II is on the rise. If THAT happens, World War III isnt far away.

The only peace I see in the future is the silence of nuclear holocost. Hate to say it but it is true.

Yeah peace is a good plan but as long as their are people in office who are there for their OWN interests, and people in caves who think everybody in America are rich obnoxious snobs like OUR LEADERS, then peace is not possible.

Id be the first one in line if a PEACE vote came up tho.
