  • Looking for Book on a Highly Decorated Marine

    Hey guys and gals:

Thought ya'll might know the answer to this question; I am searching high and low for a book by a guy who I thought was named Spranger, Pete.

This Marine had lost an eye and seen some real combat and was in the infirmary for sometime recovering. He was (is) such a badass that he's the only Marine ever allowed to return to duty with his "disability".

Who can name the gentleman and the book?

The winner gets a big "thanks!" from me.....

Who exactly are you looking for???

Louis Roundtree, Smedley Butler, Chesty Puller (Good Night Chesty, wherever you are!), or just maybe you might be talking of Maj Gen Kenneth J. Houghton????.....He was shot in the head and had to wear an eye patch, while serving in Korea, he then led Marines in combat in Vietnam where he was wounded again.......is that who you are looking for????......or you looking for a particular devil dog????.....

...And shephards we shall be. For thee my lord, for thee. Power hath descended forth from thy hand. That our feet may swiftly carry out thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to thee. And teeming with souls shall it ever be. E Nomini Patri, E Fili, E Spiritu Sancti.

It may have been Houghton, but I thought that the guy was closer to my age 35-40 or so... Wish I could remember the guys name, but he was known for an eyepatch and keeping to a 24 hour on, 24 hour off schedule to increase his output. Spranger was his name, I thought....

Hope this helps ring a bell. Thank you for your input!

Todays football players are really starting too act like its all about them, not showing up for practice, holding out on contract signings, faking injuries, carrying guns, getting arrested for drugs, getting arrested in strip clubs for stupid behavior, etc, etc....

Maybe you'd like to hear about something other than idiot Reservists and naked Iraqis.

Maybe you'd like to hear about a real American, somebody who honored the uniform he wears.

        Shot in the dark
        by *Powwow_Princess*
Okay so here is my shot in the dark. I have kind of been doing some simple genealogy on my own and I had kind of hit a dead end. I am trying to find some more information on an ancestor named August Cloquet who was born around 1831 in Red River, now I don't know if this is Red River Canada or Minnesota....
