INDIGNATION:
We were not protesting. We came to show Solidarity with our Comrade Devyn. We thought that the religious and traditional flags are welcome .. but we found out the hard way, Indigenous People who have served their country are not Welcome.. Although the outcome was a peaceful one, We will have a word with the Chief Police in another event organize to engage the Native Communities living in Toronto.sigpic

Personally I was disgusted when I seen this and other videos. There is some talk that there was a disruption before the video was being taken but to me that does not justify the removal of our flags and certainly I find it disgusting to see an officer trample and step upon the Confederacy (Hiawatha) flag.
I know that there has been talk here where I live to have some teach-ins about the flags and their true representation versus how they are perceived by the non-Indigenous people. I've seen many references to the "Mohawk Warrior Flag" when it is actually regarded by Haudenosaunee people as "The Unity Flag"
Myself and others in my community see this as an opportune time to educate ourselves and our allies by finding ways to offer genuine teachings from our respected Faith keepers and people who carry this traditional knowledge.
