Sure happens all the time! During "Intertribals" of the dance it is announced and encouraged to do so.

As long as it is announced to let traditional social dancing unless some Whites were not dancing two steps very well. No one is perfect any way. The most famous to dance for Whites is the friendship (round) dance and also to let some Natives to hand some of their regalia to the Whites to pretend to dance the traditional dances. They were all in fun time.

Mostly it is the social dancing. All is good.

there is a difference between white dancing with us and hobbyism

whites having a good time in intertribal is fine, so are blacks, asians, mexicans.......even aztlanistas haha

BUT hobbyism is disrespectful.......from boy scout kids to adult boy scout types like a certain crybaby on these very pages

If I was gonna make viking regalia, I would sleep with a goat and then put goat horns on my helmet and wear them with pride and honor.

Well, that's what you sound like.

This is not a goat. I want a billy goat. They got horns!

                              Like the shoes, though.

Hi there! I am Montana, 14 years old:)
I'm new to this site. I stumbled upon it while researching about powwows!:) Alright, so I have a question...
Are white people allowed to dance at powwows? I am 'white,' but my mom is native and I have my status card and tribal ID. I've always wanted...

I am a retired dance researcher in Europe, having worked with the dance heritage of my country. I have colleagues and students from all parts of the world. I have, however, hardly ever met anyone with indigenous background who is researching his or her dance heritage at university level.

I hope there is someone out there than can help me. I am a white guy who just happens to love watching the Fancy Dancers at local Pow Wow's. I have dreamed of doing this myself, but don't wish to disrespect the native culture by doing it unless it's not a problem. If it is possible, and there is someone...
