Now we'll see if they actually stop !
I believe blood quantums are the governments way to breed us out of existance !

They say blood is thicker than water ! Now maple syrup is thicker than blood , so are pancakes more important than family ?

There are "Elders" and there are "Olders". Being the second one doesn't make the first one true !

Somebody is out there somewhere, thinking of you and the impact you made in their life.
    It's not me....I think you're an idiot !

There's a chance you might not like me ,

    but there's a bigger

    chance I won't care

Yes, we won a battle and this order will stand as long as Obama is president. Now it is time to regroup and prepare for the rest of the war.

Powwows will continue to evolve in many directions. It is inevitable.

Color me a cynic, but this meme I came across on FB pretty much says what I feel about this.

yeah, that company is saying now they are still going to break ground and pay any associated fines for breaking the law.

Monday morning the DAPL went into federal court to file against the USACE.

Army Corps of Engineers are pretty much the top experts on any watershed project,

This is info from 2011, from the 1980 US Supreme Court settlement ruling on US v. Sioux Nation of Indians, (settled in 1980, first filing was around 1920 GEEZ!)

Sioux refusal to accept the money awarded

The Sioux have declined to accept the money,[32] because acceptance would legally terminate Sioux demands for return of the Black Hills. The money remains in a Bureau of Indian Affairs account accruing compound interest.

As of 24 August 2011 the Sioux interest on their money has compounded to over ONE billion dollars!

Is it just the Black Hills area? or all of the Great Sioux Reservation defined by 1868 Fort Laramie Treaty?
I have seen "unceded lands" term used to describe different areas.

if its over why it there still a heavy police presence protecting the criminals?

if its over why the criminals still at work instead of packing up and going home?

if its over why is 1806 still blocked?

..... You guys make some valid points and know better than I do. Still, I like to have hope that standing Rock will win in the end. Things are changing...slowly but surely.

The 1851 Reservation was roughly bounded by the Missouri, Cannonball, Little Missouri, Powder, North Platte rivers and a line between the forks of the North and South Platte, and Missouri and White rivers. In 1886, the western boundary was assigned to 104.05 deg W longitude, and the southern to roughly 43 deg N latitude. Then in 1877, the western boundary was shifted east to roughly 103 deg W longitude and the section between the Bell Fourche and the Cheyenne Rivers was lost.

I was always told that the difference between the 1851 and 1868 boundaries was the unceded hunting lands. (I've also been told that the 1851 boundaries extended further into NE and over to the Mississippi. But, the Pawnee might dispute that :) ) It is my understanding that the money is the 1877 per acre market value and 5% interest for all the lands taken in 1877.

I'm seeing stuff on FB from different people and groups at Standing Rock and the area, that they are still drilling and working on the pipeline.

Since Energy Transfer Partners is motivated by $$PROFIT$$, it seems to me they've made a financial calculation of risk that the associated fines they expect to incur are not going to be a problem to their bottom-line with an expectation that Trump's new administration will have the Army Corp. of Engineers issue an easement.

They are coin operated. Therefore, IMHO, if the fines were jacked up to be cost prohibitive (say, $500 Million a day) AND mandatory jail time for all ETP corporate officers, Board of Directors, et al, maybe then ETP might be dissuaded & choose a different path.

Hi my name is Christina, and thanks for reading my post. I'm Blackfeet and want to put some tradition in my wedding. I don't have close family that is knowledgable on our old ways, and would like any input you could give me. I don't know how I can go about getting in contact with some knowledgable elders...

                                Does anyone here rip dvd's?

If you do, do you have any suggestions for an easy comprehensive software to use. I have a software package for ripping, but it makes you go through several steps to rip. I just want to pop in my dvd, tell it to rip, and walk away.
