Jessup Lasley Fancy Dance Special

The Jessup Lasley Family and Friends are proud to announce a Men's (18+) Fancy Dance Special in Honor of Mr. Jessup Lasley. Mr. Lasley is a 10 time Meskwaki Fancy Dance Champion as well as a founding member of the Coon Hunters Singing Group. The contest will take place during the Meskwaki Proclamation Day Powwow, July 15-17, at the powwow grounds on the Meskwaki Indian Settlement, near Tama Iowa.

1st Prize: $1000 plus a Jacket and Star Quit
2 Consolations Prizes: $250 and a Star Quilt each

Fancy DAnce special

Cool, hope to see alot of dancers in the competition! This should be good to watch.

Last year's regular fancy contest at the Meskwaki Proclamation powwow was great. There around 20 adults in the contest, I think the finals went 4 songs, with Spike Draper winning it, followed by Larry Yazzie. Pretty sure that Silas, Hill, and Cleveland got into the top 5, just can't remember the order. Hopefully more will be there this year.
