  • Need information to build fancy costume

Hello- after years of talking about fancy dancing i'm finally going to do it this year. However I do not even know where to begin with building my dance outfit. Can someone please help me and point me in the right direction? where to buy feathers, beads, etc...

You may want to rephrase your question. Most folks on here would have a problem with you referring to a "costume." The appropriate term would be regalia.

Thank you for the correction, i had no idea that used the work regalia considering it reflects the paraphernalia to royalty, kings and the free masons of the 15th century. You see we all learn something new everyday. However, you never answered my request for help. Do you know where I could go to assemble my Regalia?

Are you going to make it all yourself? Have you made an outfit before?

Crazy Crow is a good place to start. They supply everything needed to construct a men's fancy dance outfit. There are many other places that specialize in particular pieces of the outfit as well.
Powwows will continue to evolve in many directions. It is inevitable.

Thank you for reply. Where is Crazy Horse located at? I'm from the Bay Area in Northern California. Is there any other facilities near here that I could visit?

            mike,

Crazy Horse is a beer, a monument and a person.

Crazy Crow is a supplier: Native American Indian Craft Supplies- Indian Craft Supply- Buckskinner Supply

              Sell your outfit?
              by WhoMe
Some outfits have been handed down from a family member. Others have been value beyond dollars because of personal reasons. Others like mine, have been specifically made for the dancer.

What would you do if a collector, museum or powwow dancer offered to buy your outfit?
