  • Tribal specificities

    Hello everybody,

I have a question regarding the Feather Fancy Dancers.
I do not take part in powwows and am not Native myself, but I am interested in learning about your culture. (I want to apologize for my lack of knowledge and I hope my question won't be offending or ridiculous!!)
I read that the Fancy Dancers are the most recent category of dancers (dating back to the 1920s). I also heard that today the regalia that the dancers wear are no more tribal specific. Is it true?
On the other hand I read on this forum that some participants emphasize their tribal affiliation on their regalia - like thanks to colors or designs on beadworks.
So, does anybody can explain me if the fact of depicting a specific tribal affiliation on the regalia is something common or not really?
    Thanks in advance. :)
