When do you stand to dance?

Reent posts show that there may be some 'dance hall' rehearsed routine being practiced by some folks about when to stand to Gourd Dance.

Scott, what do you mean by this? This is a curious statement.

Should Gourd Dance be a male-only dance?
        by Josiah
It was requested that we should have a new poll regarding this question, which I think is a better way to put it...

I don't have anything to do with Gourd Dance, but I think females should be able to dance.

        Chicken Dance History
        by WhoMe
Undoubtedly, Chicken (Prairie) Dancing is becoming more popular coast-to-coast.

I have seen Navaho, Comanche and Lumbee chicken dancers.

Anybody wanna' venture out and explain this dance? Perhaps the who (tribe/s), what, where, whys and how?

to follow the drum or the head gourd dancer
        by streamhawk
I've had this situation happen a couple of times, and would like opinions from you. Some of you may not have a head gourd dancer where you dance, but alot of dances do. So you're sitting down, waiting for the drum to ask you to stand up and dance, that time comes, the head gourd dancer doesn't get up...
