    So Who, the Gathering gourd session is more or less a "anything goes" type of dance? I'm with Josiah, really goes against the way I was taught.

    The ADs have been there for many years and place the blanket in the same place year-after-year. There is a steady line of people putting money on the drum for the singers.

    If someone does not immediately count the money from the drum and distribute it, chances are, the singers don't get their fair share.

    Each time I counted the money there, I made sure everyone got an equal share, but I didn't get to sing. I just counted money at the drum for the whole session and made sure it was distributed fairly by the time the session ended. For each session all the malessingers made over $20 and the seated females made over $15.

    But it all depends on who's handling the drum in any particular year.
    Its just that when you come back from the Fourth Reenergized and having danced the way its meant to be danced for 3 days listening to the songs
    You just shake your head when you see those videos

    Going to the Fourth makes my summer every year!
