  • Kiowa Tia-Piah 2013

The weather was fantastic for this year's Kiowa Tia-Piah ceremonial at Chieftain Park, 12mi south of Carnegie, OK.

Great drum. Warm and welcoming camps. Gourd Dancers dressed in their best. Women-folk beautifully dressed in their finest cloth or leather. Everyone looking dapper, pretty and proud. Weecha!

Was great for me to dance with Josiah and Streamhawk. And, was very proud to have the headsmen bring my nephew, Trey Zotigh, into the Kiowa Tia-Piah. Tso(dl)-Haw!

After witnessin' gourd dances in New Mexico and Arizona, I noticed something that I consider very strange and odd. At first I thought this new "tradition" may be something considered "spiritual" by those who practice it....

        What I observed is

        When someone...
