umm im a little confused but if a oldstyle grass dances with tradish dancers and he wins should he be granted money in the grass dancers or tradish dancer?????????????????

I have been to many powwows lately where a chicken dancer or two have requested a song. I quess it is like a specialty. During this specialty, I noticed that both traditional dancers and grass dancers came into the circle to dance the song. My son is changing from boys traditional to grass this August. He wants to use a cowboy hat instead of a roach. I've seen this a few times around at different powwows, and I was hoping to get some feed back from grass dancers on what you think about this. Here in Utah we have less than a handful of straight dancers. Usually only one will be in attendance at a powwow and will be group in with all the Northern traditional dancers.
This weekend a "duck and dive" song was the second song. The straight dancer danced it very "straight"...11-17-2004, 08:13 PM
