Hey all you grass dancers! My 7 yr. old boy wants to be a grass dancer bad, but thing is I don't know how, his daddy don't dance plus he lives far and away, so was wondering if there are any of you here that live in oregon or know a grass dancer that lives in oregon that he could get a few pointers from. been taking him to powwow's and that and he is getting his outfit soon, so I want to help him as much as I can. he is a very determined boy, fast learner, and a good dancer. :Help :Frog

I'm still not totally complete with my outfit but had I started at age 7 things would be different and I might actually be good.

Do you have any pics of your outfit? I bet you dance very well. Like I tell my boy as long as you are dancing 100% no matter what, you are going to make me proud. Giving it 100% all the time ensures that you are good no matter what your skill level is at compared to other dancers. Of course being a male that is not good enough for him. He is sooooo competitive, which is good, because it helps him focus, practice, and alway's do his best. He has decided that in order to help himself dance his best every time he is going to dedicate each dance to a particular person in his family, so that while he is dancing he'll make whoever he is dancing for proud of him. (Just sweet) We are all proud of him anyway's!:D Any-who, keep on dancing 100%!

You'd be surprised how many hate email and pm and even jealous people are just on my quirky smile thread. I don't dance well but I get out and dance still and thats why I don't normally enter in the contest competitions. I'm no Randy Paskemin thats for sure!

                        by MrzDancerMom
Hello, all my kids dance. My son is No. Tradish (he is Tachi/Lakota/S.Ute ndn). He has all his regalia and loves to dance.

But I need help or advice on how we can help him get the 'bounce' in his steps. I think he gets self-conscience out there at pow wows when he dances and he 'freezes'

                        Wisconsin dancers?
                        by 2horses
Does anyone know a traditional dancer in east/central Wisconsin (I'm just south of Green Bay) that could point me in the right direction to start dancing. My story is as long as anyone else's so I'll spare you my rambling. You can message if you need to know though.
                        Thanks all for your advice...

                        Grass Dancin W/ Cowboy Hat
                        by Lakota Wiyan
My son is changing from boys traditional to grass this August. He wants to use a cowboy hat instead of a roach. I've seen this a few times around at different powwows, and I was hoping to get some feed back from grass dancers on what you think about this. I think it's cool because he is doing it in...

This thread is to list dancers you think have what it takes to be the next "big thing". Off hand, I'd have to say Travis "Thunder" Lovett. Never really met him, but have seen him dance on some videos at some of the bigger pow wows shown on this site, and have seen his name in the...
