Time for a new set of moccasins. The last pair I had were really hard on the feet. Do any of you all have any comments on where I can get some or make them?
If your talking about beaded ones kqdesigns.com does really great work, and their prices aren't bad either. For me it was going to be around $500, guys moc might be a little more, ya'll have bigger feet. lol. But their really great check'em out.
The look on a baby's face the first time they hear the drum is priceless.......

I prefer using deck shoes, and sliding in some good inserts.. Mine are in bad need of repair (I actually need to make a new pair) other than that, just practice... If you want to make them out of leather, use a rawhide sole, do the beadwork before you put the moc together. If you need a diagram on "how to make a moc" I can draw one up for ya really quick and give it to you, just pm me on yahoo.
What style are you looking for? The soft sole with a seam up the front and flaps on the side like Algonquin style, or the plains kind with a separate sole and a fully beaded top? First you need a good hide and you've got to get hand tanned moose hide. Halford Hide in Winnepeg has hides and other supplies for sale. You can easily make either style yourself, or get someone to make them. I make moose hide ones, but only in the winter time. Moose hide is very tough and lasts a long time, but hand tanned hides are as easy to bead on as felt. Rose Morin in Big River Sask also has moose hides.
