how many of you'all wear deer bells instead of regular bells ? if so how many toes on each leg

I use deer toes mixed with 357 bullet casings. I also made my youngest son a set of deer toes.

Mine has 1 row with 2 rows of bullet casings. My sons has 2 rows of toes.

I have always used deer toes (though I haven't danced in about 8 years). I have 25 on each leg in two rows so that they bounce off of each other.

I have never used deer toes in place of bells, but I have seen a few straight dancers wearing them.

I don't know that much about this component. Would someone like to offer some information on the tribal origin/history of using deer toes below each knee in place of bells?
