Would it be appropriate to wear a lazy stitched or appliquéd beaded belt? If so, should it be mounted on leather with borders of nickel spots, as with the usual loom beaded belt?

Lazy stitched or appliquéd beaded belt?

The first belt I made was applicade and lazystitched. It was mounted to a white sheet of leather with the metal studs along the outside of the belt. It was matching to the outfit I beaded. It looked pretty nice if I say so myself, with my sagging chest all puffed out. Now I just use loom beaded belts. I think loom beading goes faster and is easier.
But to answer your question, I think it would look good.BOB

Why wouldn't it be alright to use a belt made by lazy stitch or applique or both? I have never heard of anything saying that one must wear a loom beaded belt ... I wear a concho belt most of the time myself. I made my loom beaded belt back when I was sixteen and I can tell you this...I can wrap it around me and with long enough shoes laces I can even tie it on, but I really do not fit it all that well anymore...LOL.PB49

I've made a belt or two over the years, and I have always thought that there would be a market for beaded belt extenders. Basically like a big wide buckle that covers the gap (you guys know what I'm talking about) I never actually sat down and designed one out though. Dancers getting fatter is what keeps me in business.
As for the topic at hand, I remember seeing this old man at Grey Horse who wore an appliqued strap from an Ojibwa bandolier bag as a belt. I thought it was cool. Ever since Bernard Kendall has been gathering Crow and plateau applique belts and sellling them dirt cheap, a lot of guys are opting o wear those. In my opinion they are not too flashy or colorful, but to each their own.

by crazyeagle3Just typing a thread to see who prefers the beaded belt to the strap leather belt. I have a strap leather belt with silver conchos on it. Please respond with your comments. I just think I like the leather because it gets to be too much beadwork having cuffs, kneebands, yoke, apron. Thanks and have...

by SelinaHello y'all!
I'd like to know, how many of you have the yoke fully beaded, and how many have not.
Okay, okay, I could have made a poll with that question, but I think we had too many polls, lately.
So if you have a pic of your yoke, maybe you could post it....-
