Greetings to all. My name is Alycia and I compete nationally with my dogs in Disc Dog. Disc Dog is Fast growing sport where people and thier canine friends play frisbee together. Part of disc dog is a toss and fetch competition and the other is a freestyle routine that is set to music. I am a native person so I have started using various native music to my routines. The respose has been amazing but I wonder if the various groups would cosider it rude for me to use their traditional music in such a way. I've tried asking via the CD label and there was no response. What do you think?

yes. you play frisbee with your dog. they are 5 main disc dog organizations-each with their own set of rules and judging critiria. In my division(open) in my preferred organization, UFO (Unified Flying dog Organizations) there are two parts of the competition. Toss and fetch where you throw the frisbee as many times as possible within one minute on a grid on a field. Each section is assigned a point value from 0-5, A successful catch, made by the dog, in any of the gird areas can earn you points, the more distance the more points, with a bonus 1/2 point awarded if the dog catches it in the air. The second part is a freestyle round. It is 90 sec. routine set to music. There is a whole judging critiria but basically you preform tricks with your dog, like vaults off your body, flips ect. using a variety of frisbee throws. by the way the dog does the tricks :) but showmanship by the thrower does add to the overall score. Each thrower chooses their own music and I have been using Red Bull's traditional music. It has a perfect beat for my high energy routine and compliments my dogs spinning style. It often reminds me of fancy dancing. But I am always seeking new music because we usually see the same people/judges so we need to change up to keep the routine feeling fresh. We also do charity work by entertaining people at functions like games and money raising events. It's a great way to spend time with your dog.
