  • Now you wouldn't think it's funny....

if you got hit with a rogue drumstick, would you?

Probably not, however, when it does happen, and not to you, it's always friggin' hilarious!

Wild down beats, malfunctioning sticks, side-armed drummers or close standing recorders. The classics never get old.

    Okay, continue with the forum....

I was juss thinkin' out loud...

    ...that's so true....so, so true...

One of the guys I sing with is notorious for "high" sticking and all the ladies have learned not to stand directly behind him.
But, a coupla years ago someone made a new set of sticks and on the first or second time out he was coming down on the honor beat from full extension and the head just popped off- 'cept the string or whatever they had used to pad it was sort of uncoiling as thing flew over the drum, past two of the singers to strike a lady squarely in the head.

That just happened to me in Richmond. I was sitting across the arena from the drum and saw something flying towards me. Hit me in the foot and I thought someone threw something on purpose so I got a little huffy til I realized what happened. I laughed!

This brings up anothe question: why do people alwayz laugh first, and then say "Are you alright?"

Thatz great! Or while they're laughing, they try to ask you if yer alright.

Oh well, the odds are at least 1 in 10,000, to be hit. So, I guess you just have to look at the bright side and figure if you've been hit, or even witnessed some one being hit, you should consider yourself lucky, I guess...

I think she was just embarassed, woulda been funnier had it stuck in her mouth.

I'd take getting hit over a four day car ride with 5 singers who have been livin on frybread and beans for the summer all trying to get home in a chevy with no AC

I'm as guilty as Chaz in that. I've never been around when a drum stick broke, yet. Although I do sit behind drums many times at pow wow's, just haven't seen it, yet.

But there was one time when a male friend of mine was here at my house and I have a window on the side facing my drive way that opens in sideways. I have a full length mirror on my closet door that is right next to the window and the windos is right next to my steps.LOL Well, he went over to look in the mirrow for something and it was summer time so he went to move the window. Well, he hit himself in the head with the window and fell backwards onto my steps. I busted up laughing, I about died it was so funny and then I jumped up and ran over and asked him if he was okay. He was just laying there on my steps not moving. It was way too funny. I had tears rolling down my face.

So yeah, I'm just as bad.LMAO

If you're asked to be part of a head staff for a pow wow, do you have certain limits or restrictions (etc) that you have? If so, what are they?

I was just wondering what all you mothers have done to deal with depression during pregnancy. How did you cope with the depression and is it unusual to feel depressed during this time? Your thoughts and opinions are welcomed..
