My pick would have to be Zotigh Singers, Yellowhammer, Southern Thunder and Omaha Whitetail. Maybe your pick is different. Who do you think has the best songs?

i would agree on the zotigh singers, yellow hammer but i would not agree on the other two i would have to choose ottertrail and bad water singer out of alabama they sound pretty good to be such a young drum... i think the oldest one is 23 and the youngest is 17....

Definitely Zotigh and Grey Horse.
Both have a wide variety of "unique" men's fancy dance songs.
Both were among the earliest southern drum groups to bring southern style powwow music to the Canadian plains.
Both groups have at least 10 songs that belong to their drum groups, that are their own compositions.
The best part is . . .
They both drum to a beat that let the fancy dancers show their stuff!
Grey Horse does not set up that often anymore, unfortunately.Powwows will continue to evolve in many directions. It is inevitable.

A lot of southern drum hop n skip around because of their knowledge of the basic intertribal, flag song ect and boast about being a southern drum, that can handle being a host. What specifications REALLY qualify you, to be a fully prepared, good, quality host drum? I'd say more then the basic knowledge...

by chipMy sons and I are great fans of the Cree style of hand drumming that has swept the powwow circuit throughout North America.
But I am wondering what everyone's take is on Ojibway hand drum songs?

by LSSHow often are you called upon sing a northern style song?
How often do you this happen?
When this happens, do southern groups have their own songs or do they pull something from the "Top 40"?-
