    What songs do you sing:

    1. Traditional tribal songs
    2. New compositions from other drum groups
    3. Your own drums' songs

If asked to start a song, do you have a favorite stand by? What is it?
Powwows will continue to evolve in many directions. It is inevitable.

    Good question!
I'll pull out any of the three above you mentioned.

I'm more familiar with some of the Ponca War Dance Songs as opposed to Pawnee, Kiowa, etc. I enjoy singing these song because of the similarities in our two languages. I was talking with a singer this past weekend and he was telling me how obscure these songs are. Some of my favorites are those composed by the late J. A. Clark.

To get a true picture of your purpose in life, you only get the whole picture when you listen with your mind, your ears and your heart. This way The Creator has a direct connection with you and only you...no outside interference.

When you follow the will of IT that created you, understanding that your purpose is not for you...but for IT and all that IT has created, there can be no wrong except failure to be obedient. Only then do we jeopardize the gifts we are given.

        The Starting Song!

        Gawd!
"She also has a very soft skin. The only trouble with snake women is they copulate with horses, which makes them strange to me. She say's she doesn't. That's why I call her "Doesn't Like Horses". But, of course, she's lying."

I typically try not to sing the last song that was sung in the rotation.... but on the other hand everyone is already familiar with the song.

I can honestly say, of the three choices... all three... LOL.

You gotta sing them older songs, but there are a lot of good contemporary songs, and we sing about 15 songs of our own (which we keep adding to.)

The guy I learned a lot from always told me, sing the new songs, but you gotta sing them old ones too or they'll be lost.
I became a singer because I love to sing... and to feed my addiction to cough drops!

As always...you can always count on Ol' Smokey to point out truth!
