It looks like the pow wow circuit has been hit again with a poser.

Some older women in the local S.F. Bay Area community have been informing people and urging myself and others to get the word out about this woman, Teresa Hunt who is telling people she is Northern Cheyenne is not.

Teresa attended UCSF and at that time was PortoRican, Black and white... Since that time she came out as Cheyenne and has been asked to be head dancer at many pow wows in Northern and Southern California. Be aware... She is a fraud and is becoming more well known throughout Indian country.
She comes from a wealthy family in one of the richest communities in the Bay area. She is taking away from real natives parading herself and representing herself as legit, when too many are learning the truth about her.

Pow wow Commities be aware who you are asking to be your head dancer.

How true is what your saying?
It sounds like you have people saying things in your ear and they have picked you to be the one to say what they should be saying themselves. COWARDS! I give you your credit for stepping up and saying what you have heard from other women but, have you acutally talked to her and found out what she has to say.You might want to re-think what you are saying.
This is just my opinion and I'm only giving it because I've spoke with before and she has never givin me the slightest thought of not to believe her.
Please give your proof so we all can understand your anger.
I think all who read this would like to know the truth ,not hear say from one angery woman to another angery woman and so on.

Two of the women who've made these accusations are affliated with Bay Area Indian Programs. One is from the Native American Health Center and the other with CRC. Both women are distinguished, high profile people in the community. Both very credible and if you want their names, give me your email address and i'll be willing to tell you.

I've never even heard of this woman and never even been to California. :)

My point was/is...don't call someone out publically on the internet unless you have the guts to make it known who you are or who the accusers are. You named her but won't name the accusers. If you really feel so adamantly about it, you wouldn't care who knew.

For that matter, who the hell are you? We don't know because this is the internet and you use a handle. This is a public forum so you've go alot of nerve telling people to 'mind their own business'. It's so easy for people to come out on the internet and ruin a person by spewing a few choice accusations. So far, that's the category you fall into. Folks that like to 'spew' second and third hand information are just looking for attention in my book. It's merely gossip unless a person has firsthand experience with the person or situation being discussed. I'm not taking any sides but I know that she danced at Northern Cheyenne's powwow and placed, so that made me believe that she was from there or had some association with them - otherwise she has alot of nerve pretending to be a member right in front of them- which doesnt seem likely. The only other possibility I can think of is that a family from there adopted her. Eitherway, I dont think that it matters, if she wants to dance - let her dance. If powwows were to be so exclusive - then "non-powwow" tribes would not be dancing, and same goes with dancing styles associated with particular tribes. The powwow world has been assimilating tribes and dancing styles and it will only continue to do so.

I have no idea who this woman is, but if she is placing at the Northern Cheyenne Powwow and people are questioning her claims to be Cheyenne. Someone better come up with some concrete facts.

I have just spoken with Tereas and consider her a friend,
Teresa was adopted when she was a baby to a non - Indian family.
Her biological father was 1/2 native who was also addoppted.
She doesn't come from a rich family that live in one of the richest communities in the bay area. Her adopted family Bought a Home in a neighborhood at
the time was middle-class.
It wasn't her fault the community blossomed into an upper-class neighbor hood
She was adopted into a Cheyenne family and in according to Cheyenne way they consider her one of their own. She was brought into the arena by her adopted Northern Cheyenne family the right and proper way. She has the right to dance and compete if she chooses.
it seems like people are getting angry over nonsence. Maybe over Teresa beating someone at pow wow or being called for a head staff job over someone else.
It seems like an issue that holds no water and is being blown out of proportion
