High Noon took first in the singing contest. High Noon took 1st in the Hand drum. If High Noon took first in the third portion of this contest, they would have been awarded $50,000 for being overall winners. However, (this is a big however) Wildhorse took the 3d portion of the singing contest. By not winning the Northern and the hand drum portion does this make them ineligible to win the overall?
So.......... are they really Triple Crown Winners and receive the 50 grand?. I don't know.

One of the Wildhorse guys does post on here so they would have to fill youse all in on those details.

Anyways, all the groups sounded great. I had a good time.

I heard that they took the TRIPLE CROWN TROPHY away from WILDHORSE, but the got the 50grand. I guess they got to keep the chairs though. i don't know bout that. But just heard they didn't get to keep the TROPHY. Not to be mean but I thought Wildhorse sounded hurt as well as other drums in the overall. The overall should have came down between BEARCREEK and HIGHNOON. I didn't really think a SOUTHERN drum could win the 50g's but after they called HIGHNOON for 2nd. I didn't know who would take it!

congrats to Wild Horse...just when you think nothing was going right for them this weekend they come out on top. Man talk about coming out of nowhere to win it all. Hmmmm...what else can I say? Ummm....a lot of people were blinded by the big name drum groups getting in there they forgot about Wild Horse, they stole the show thats for sure.

All that I know is that WildHorse worked very hard and I believe that they deserved it. They didnt keep the TRIPLE CROWN TROPHY because it stays at Schzemitun, they just have their names engraved on it like last years winners. I heard they got shafted in handdrum contest. They are from Rounddance country. Anyways I am very happy that they won, they traveled quite the ways. And looking forward to next year. Maybe this time I can go.

Yeah it is nice to see a different drum group take home the overall.
Midnite Express, Bear Creek, Battle River, The Boyz were all pretty much shocked at the results; High Noon didnt care (they already had $30,000).
Man I feel sorry for all those southern drums that didnt stand a chance; it seems as though that southern drum groups dont stand a chance in overall, it always goes to a northern drum. That probably explains why Omaha White Tail and Youngbird didnt show up on Sunday: they know how it goes.
I also wondered why Meskwaki Nation didnt show up on Sunday? I thought they coulda had a chance to steal the show; they've been tearing it up this past summer.

Wild Horse; nobody should be suprised they took the overall. I mean, didnt they win Gatherings a few years back? Man......seems as though whoever Randy Paskemin sings with the drum group will win overall. I remember Black Lodge in 2001 when Randy sang with them. THis guy is good luck baby...LOL.

ANYWHO... YES they took the money, YES they got the chairs, AND the jackets!! AND... YES!! THEY DESERVED IT!! They sang hard and pulled themselves together Sunday to show everyone what they are worth -- AND THEY ROCK!!! (But they already know they're always first in my book ;) )
