    Man

I was just thinking about if I was going to try to make it to that one or not. Because I am so busy trying to get ready for the one the weekend after in Jacksonville, NC. The one in Loris is the Waccamaw one right?

If I can swing it I will sure try!

    BTW my name is Wanda.

No I have a maroon Monte Carlo that has a tag on the front with a pit bull and it says Tab's Chevy, we also had 2 other cars in our convoy, a silver Doge Neon SRT, and a dark blue GMC Yukon.

    Well

You are tight because i was only there for one day. i really did not dance much, I just sat and listened to the drum. I did not know that about the drum comp because I had left Sunday morning. But that sucks if they did that. So who did win the drum comp?

    Sad

What a sad event. The really sad thing is that there have been more and more dances similar to that one. Women judging the Men, Men judging the Women. And as always people winning that don't follow the procedures.

We seem to always find one or come across one like this more and more often. This is one of the reasons I attend less and less competition events. Even the ones that used to be great and the judging was great have greatly fallen.

Well, let's hope that your next event is great and helps make up for this loss in many ways.

The judging was bad, like I have NEVER seen. They had men judging women categories, and women judging the men categories, then they only had one drum competition song, on Sunday at that after everyone was tired from singing their buns off saturday and partially horse, I only saw them have one round for the dancer category, even the adults!!! I dunno maybe it was me. They didnt feed the dancers or vendors, but they fed the boy scouts who were parking cars, from what one of the boy scouts told me. The registration was suppose to close by 12:00 and some of the drums that won in competiton registered after 12:00 like 12:30-1:00 is when they registered, they beat out drums that were registered in time and were singing stronger and was always at the drum, and even some of the dancers that won the same went for them. It was just all messed up.

A pow wow in Georgia sucked? I'm shocked! :)

Seriously though, sorry that you had a bad trip. It stinks to travel somewhere and the dance be poorly organized or not what you thought it would be.

This is where powwows.com does a great job. On here, we get to discuss dances and how they are run. Thanks for your report nativegal...now, others will think twice (or at least know the situation) before traveling to the dance you referenced.

Congrats to all the winners at Schemitzun this year, dancing and singing in all that heat and humidity you all deserve it. This was actually my first time going back in quite a while and I must say that I was disappointed with the overall atmosphere and tempo of the pow wow. For one thing, Schemitzun...

    Disqualification
    by WhoMe
Has anybody seen a dance contest where the dancer was disqualified?

In the evolution of contests, the honor system used to be prevalent. if a dancer dropped a major item or over/understepped the last beat of the contest song, they disqualified themselves. Anybody seen that happen lately?...

    Arthur's Indiana Metis powwow.....
    by Mato Winyan
The powwow was last weekend at Indy. I went. I have to admit it wasn't as bad as I had anticipated after being to the other "event" I went to the previous weekend. It was typical for a Indiana powwow.

Some of the same spooky people were at both events but the real difference...

Hello, was at chamber's farm last night for a so called pow-wow.
In my opinion, they needed to call it a white man trying to have a Native American gathering. sevral of the dancers were walking across the circle with food and drinks, just so they didn't have to go around the circle. they had people...
