This is a very touchy topic - death. Most people would drop everything and go home. I personally, would. Luvstraightdancers is defending someone elses doings and that's okay. I think that the majority of traditional people felt the same way that he did, but it didn't happen to everybody. It happened to the Cozads. What they do is their business.
Dreams4u was just stating how he felt. I really don't think he was slamming anyone.

This is a touchy subject. I know this family quiet well. I would have left the pow wow too but every tribe is different. I don't know the situation but when I lost my parents I stayed out of the circle...cut my hair and sat back in mourning for a year until members of my family brought me back in. We as Indian people are always being watched by others...no matter what we do or so it seems. I'm nobody special and I'm in no position to say what is right or wrong but I know Larry Cozad to be a praying man. Each tribe observes mourning different and I've heard that some doesn't have a mourning period.....I don't know but I respect them all whatever it may be.

I understand Dreams4u too. You only stated what you felt but remember, sometimes things are not always what they seem. okay? I'm sure you didn't mean to slam anyone.

I was only there the last day and a half. What I saw was the Head Dance Contest Judge had a lot to learn. I heard alot of whining from this one drum called Alamoosic Lake (or something like that) about the singing contest. That was one of the reasons why I think the other drums had to sing more. Their leads in the songs were BAD and if they had to random lead they would have really been in trouble. That couldn't sing anyway!!! They were the worst sounding drum there. I can usually dance to any drum but not that one. I also sat and cringed from the way some of the gourd dancers were dressed. It wasn't meant to be a wannabe pow wow I don't think. This must have been a different committee this year cause last year (2004) the head staff was great and was the best pow wow they ever had. Except for the rain.

I had to leave before the winners were announced. I had a good time at the casino and watched some get crazy after the pow wow on Sat night. Dang trying to 49 in the casino at the bar a 3:00 am!!!!! I wonder what the gamblers thought of that. My friend and I came home $100 richer.

man my homie was there she said that it was so hot that the ground was burning thier feet...man i went last year but didn't dance and it was very good...for the head judge...i think that he does need to spread out his judges and not just pick his friends but everyone...some of the judges he picked weren't very good judges(many different people told me that)...so hopefully they will have a better committee for next year's pw...
