  • Misinformed about Seneca Nation Pow Wows

Greetings to my Native Sisters and Brothers:

I hope that your lives are full of health, and that positive energy is flowing through you.
Recently, I met many new faces at the Red Earth Celebration in Oklahoma City. I had a fabulous time, as it was my first time attending. I had the great fortune of watching my first LIVE Gourd Dance, and was even invited to participate. It was a new experience for me being a Northern girl.
I also walked around and handed-out flyers for the Thunder Falls Veterans Pow Wow (July 8-10), and the Seneca Allegany Casino Veterans Pow Wow (July 15-17). I told each person receiving a flyer that the accompanying sheet listing the categories and prize money was for BOTH pow wows. This is where I accidently misinformed everyone. I truly apologize for giving the wrong information, and for unintentionally misleading everyone. There was a major miscommunication between the pow wow committee, and the woman that was informing myself. The correct information has been listed here, and I hope that everyone can plan for these weekends accordingly.
Again, I am really sorry about this whole matter. I do still invite everyone to my Nation's pow wows, as we are excited to host our Native relatives.
I thank you for your time in reading this, and good-luck where ever your travels take you.
    Best Wishes,
Cassie Thomas, Miss Indian World 2005

    thanks!

    Hola Cassie!
I'm really glad that you posted this. Just so y'all know this definitely was not her fault as she was told differently. But the new info that she posted is the correct/up to date info now :) We do hope that word does get around about this and either way-they will be good pow wows! Besides all ya pow wow visitors-wouldn't ya like to come to see where Mizz NDN World comes from??? LOL Niagara Falls powwow is also a great chance to vacation as there are soooo many tourist spots in the area (inclu Clifton Hill-haunted houses, rides, games, casinos, etc) on the canadian side, and the american side is slowly building up too now that the Seneca Niagara Casino has opened up (where the pw is at). Sooo we hope to see y'all there and yes please spread the word that the flyers that were distributed @ red earth were not correct. Feel free to call the numbers listed ont he posters for just look here online for the correct info (as was posted) FYI: The new posters are being distributed now with the correct info.

      Host or Invited drums?

Would you also include which Drum Groups have been invited?

      Thanks in advance

Is there drum contest or roll call on Friday night or is it just specials?
