This is what I've heard so far:

    July 1-3
    Cherokee Fairgrounds

    Host Northern: Buffalo Horse
    Host Southern: Fort Oakland Ramblers
    MC: Osceola Redshirt

There has been no mention of dance contest $$ or even if there will be a drum contest. I have not seen a flyer yet for this dance so this is all the info I've got now.
I think everyone on this rez is addicted to Harry Potter...lol...

If I'm not mistaken Fort Okland Ramblers became YellowHammer. so....? If this is true that would be truely an expierience, and I am saddened by the fact that the Youth Center Powwow is being cancelled Singerdad. It was such a good powwow, and you guys treated the drums sooooo good. I will look forward for another community event.

Thank you for your words. We really worked overtime trying to treat the singers and dancers well, and to hear that we did really feels good. It was always our #1 goal.

I hadn't heard about Fort Oakland merging with Yellowhammer...I agree that would be cool!

I'll try to get more information on this pow wow today and post it as I get it.

How do they expect people to book rooms if they don't advertise the powwow?

If I don't hear by thursday, I'm booking for Oneida, Wisc.

This dance isn't run by pow wow people. They can't get it through their heads that people plan for dances months in advance and need to know specifics months in advance. They've been told, but hey...

                I'd book for Oneida.

Your welcome. It wasn't really a merge, it was more of a breakup. From what I was told Fort Okland broke up (well one person left) and a few more people joined and became Yellowhammer. So if they are getting back together for this powwow that would be awesome.

If I'm not mistaken, this is not THE Fort Oakland Ramblers of years ago (those guys became Yellowhammer), but a different bunch of guys with the name (with maybe a few of the original guys around).

I think one of the requirements of drum comp is you have to be ndn not white.
