    Located east of Scottsdale AZ at the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.
    Grand Entry: Sat. 1:00 & 7:00 Sun. 1:00
    over $20,000 prize money
    Head Staff TBA

    Does anyone have the latest (if any) information for this powwow?

    I have some preliminary info, but ... I don't want to have a similar situation as with the Gallup Ceremonial where they did a complete 180 degree turn, so I'll chill until the committee posts the head staff themselves.

      Event Detail: $20,000.00 total prize money.

      Grand Entry: Saturday 1:00 & 7:00 Sunday 1:00

      Specials: mens & womens fancy spotlight dance, owl dance, mens & womens team dance.

      Categories: mens fancy, grass, traditional, golden age. womens fancy, jingle, traditional, golden age. teen boys fancy, grass traditional. teen girls fancy, jingle, traditional. jr. boys fancy, grass, traditional. jr. girls fancy, jingle, traditional. tiny tots.

      Arts & Crafts, Food Concessions available.

      Committee sponsored Feast Saturday 5:00pm

        i hope they don't give the dancers the shaft like they did last year when they made them choose a number from a hat??? thats kinda unfair??

          The spotlight contests weren't performed like they should've been! They were more like "special contests" with a spotlights roaming around the contestants rather than having one contestant up at a time. I think that's why Bill Haze is in charge of the committee this year. He wasn't there last fall. I'll mention this "draw from a hat" situation and see if he can come up with a better way or let all the contestants that sign up be in the spotlight contests.

                    The powwow will be held at the old location - the Salt River Indian Community ballfield instead of at the Casino!

                            DAng BL?!?!?!? Shyt, I haven't heard these guys in so long....abuot time someone is bringing them back down this way.....especially at the old softball field??? Dang, it's definately going to rock!!!!

                              BL was host at the 2004 UA Wildcat Powwow ... and they took home $5k and 1st place jackets at the 2004 Orme Dam Victory Days Celebration Powwow!
