From what I remember, the spotlight contests were run like "committee special" contests. A lot of dancers signed up for the various categories but only 10 were randomly selected to be in the contests. Then during the contests, all 10 were out in the arena with the splotlights roaming all over the place. It was not one dancer at a time, but one category at a time. The evening sort of ended quickly and there were a few issues with ending the evening session early since all the scheduled contests were completed ahead of time. If the spotlight contests were one dancer at a time, it would've made the spotlight portion run longer.

It would also help to split the singing contests into Northern and Southern.

Or have consolation awards for all non-placing drum groups.

Okay, maybe not "randomly", but I think the names were drawn to see who were in the spotlight contests.

Can't double the money yet - because the entire powwow is sponsored by one Tribal Member - not the Tribe or the casino.

                        New Powwow maybe.

How about a new powwow and a new commitee. Get some Seasoned powwow people involved on the commitee. Raise more money. This could be a well known big powwow. I know dozens of dancers that don't go because of the categories not split. Its hard to have northern style of powwow in the south southwest. Come on.
