Well lets see here, first of all, it seems to me that you negative people have nothing better to do with your time. Geez. These guys (Oklahoma Outlaws) won fair and square based on the judges decisions. They like what they heard and granted their points accordingly. What's rediculous is you are trying to put down this Southern drum, but what you are actually doing is attacking the integrity of the judges,.. ALL of them, BOTH the Northern and Southern judges. The drums cant go up there and declare victory themselves... or do you know something that we dont know. One last question, who better to judge singers and dancers than other singers and dancers? You're going to fault this first place "winning" drum for having other singers judge them? AND you're going to fault them for knowing each other???

O.K. I don't get it????? Am I missing something here?????? The judges made their choice and Oklahoma Outlaws won. If there is doubt as to the judging then take issue with the judging and not with who who won it. Oklahoma Outlaws ROCKED the house BIG TIME This negativity is useless Sounds like sour grapes to me. Why being so judgemental????? The pow wow is over and Oklahoma Outlaws won. Final.

This was a cool powwow. Congratulations to all the dancers and singers that placed. HOKA!
Oh... Just an FYI.. No consolation prizes were awarded.

Are you part of the SCIC board? I do remember how the Del Castillos had a monopoly on the princess title, lol.

            Winners

I thought my point was pretty clear. Glen and Co. won. However it happened, they won, again I wouln't call it a contest in singing, so much as a popularity contest and I believe that I have the experience to say that.
I have also told Glen that.

Now, for everyone else...George Bush won too but that doesn't make him the best does it??????

Enough! The powwow is over, the smoke cleared, everyone's back home..........just drop it and we'll all see each other at the next powwow...........then we can all complain again for the next thread. Powwow life never changes, it's all the same and someone is always going to be drunk or high, someone will bi*ch about the points and regardless our high and mighty selves will be packing up to the next powwow.........................................so drop it.

As i read everyones comments... i agree and disagree on which some of you people say... (sorry if that sounded rude)
this was my first time ever going to the S.C.I.C powwow...i didnt show up for friday.. because i couldnt find a ride but i was able to be there sat. and sun. i just planned on dancin intertribals and not compete but my friend kinda talked me in to competein haha.. and i was REALLY shocked that i got 4th in my catagory... i went out for every intertribal as i alwayz try to do at every powwow i go to.. but at this one they really didnt call spot checks but there were people standing there marking off the numbers that they seen dancing... i thought that was cool because i really dont like it when they say SPOTCHECK and dancers start runnin to the arena like some did. but with my own opinion i liked the powwow and i would really like to go again next year... and i also think it wasnt right for the drum to go and host there own 49 party out in the parking lot in front of the host hotel haha.. i saw that hehe

Hmmmm, you don't think it's "right" for the drum to host their own 49 in the parking lot? Well who do you think "hosts" the 49's, whether it be in the parking lot, the room, the powwow grounds at any powwow? And that goes both ways, southern AND northern singers! Not only that, but what happens after the powwow is over is their own business. They're on their own time. This has been going on for years, it's nothing new! For those of us who have been going to powwows all our life, this ain't the first generation that party's after the powwow. And I can pretty much guarantee you it won't be the last, judging from all the young kids that are out and about these days. Where are their parents? Hmmmm, maybe hiding out in their rooms doing the same thing that's going on in the parking lot?! I may be out there (and not ashamed to admit it), but at least I make sure my kids are where they should be. So please, don't be so judgemental when it comes to what people choose to do with their off time. As long as they get the job done, that's all that matters. They ain't hurtin anybody. Ya'll need to get over it and move on!

I just had to reply to this. You are saying that you aren't ashamed to admit to being out in the parking lot partying and knowing where your kids should be. Yes, these '9's are going to continue as long as kids see their parent or parents actively participate in these shindigs. They take their cues from them (parents) to consume the atmosphere and going-ons. By the way, How can they not be hurting anyone if kids are exposed to the partying every weekend? I supposed they are getting that job done (influencing young minds to drinking, drugs and what have you). That's all that matters to you. One question-were those your kids staggering and running around that late at night?

yeah, I said I was not ashamed to admit to being in the parking lot! Cause I was! Why try to hide it, it's not like no one saw me! And I saw a lot of other people there also, so what! We're all adults, old enough and, yes, believe it or not, smart enough to know what we're doing! And we're not hurting anyone means just that! If someone else let's their kids run around all night and hang out with other kids, that has nothing to do with us. We don't run around with the young people, we keep to ourselves. And we know those aren't any of ours out there, we make sure of that. But we have no say as to what other people let their kids do. And when I said I knew my kids were where they should be, that's what I meant, they should've been in bed and were. And no, our kids, (and I'm talking about the people in my crowd only) are not exposed to the partying every weekend. And no matter what we try to keep them from, the "influence" most likely came from their peers. It's called peer pressure. We have kids that play sports and are involved with other extra curricular activites and we as parents do support them 100%. No, my kids are not allowed to wander around at night, period. Who's kids are out staggering around is none of my business, that's up to their parents. All I know is it's none of ours! For all I know, it was yours!
And no matter what people think, these so called "shindigs" otherwise known as 49's will continue, in fact, I'm looking forward to the one planned for the DC powwow!! I will definately be there!

okay i may not have the right to say this.. because i dont sing at the dum or anything... but i dont think its right for a singer to get drunk all night then getting a few hours of sleep then returning to the drum with a hang over! i thinks thats not only just very disrespectful but embarrasing to the rest of the people at the drum.. the head singer.. and the powwow commitee.. all that im saying.. if a person is gonna get drunk all night get a few hours of sleep and know that they have a hang over the next day they should not be sitting at the drum.. or be in regailia or anything. because thats just very disrespectful to all of our ancestors!! so again i probably dont have any right to say that because im no elder and im just a chlid. but its just my own opinion! thankyou...

I must say as much as I enjoy the Oklahoma Outlawz, I'm always disappointed at anyone drinking around their drums. I wasn't raised that way and I doubt the singers were either. Let's keep it real, respect our grandpa drums. As far as the contest goes, the Outlawz out sang all other drums. Give them some props and quit acting ugly.... If you don't like the way the dice fell, stay home next time.
