Drum - Winner Take All (Southern)
Rose Hill - Southern Boyz and Thunder Hill were there
    Winner Take All (Northern)
    Battle River

Now don't get bent out of shape peeps but this is MY OPINION!!

Native Eagle was the only Northern drum that showed up so the Committee decided to throw the host drum into the contest. I think it was wrong for the Committee to do that. The Host Drum, as well as the Head Dancers got paid so they shouldn't have contested. Wasn't there a thread on "Greed in Pow Wows"? I also noticed both head dancers (Julius and Keri) placed 2nd. What a coincidence.

I was surprised Spike placed so low and Dwight White Buffalo didn't make it in as well as Wayne Silas. I think that was him I saw out there.

The Northern ladies (Misty Blue Mesteth, Alva and Marcia Fiddler) didn't stand a chance although I think one of them should have gotten in. Even some of the good dancers in cloth didn't make it in. (I was hoping that Sandy Tate, Sunny Rose Yellow Mule, and Alicia McClellan would get in.)

There was just one tie this year (as compared to those of last year and the fiasco that occurred afterwards) between Kevin Connewerdy (?) and Graham P. Heard some ladies got read the riot act by a committee person when they wanted to ask a simple question. Wow, the committee should lighten up.

The starter of this thread was right in their observations about greedy drums & dancers. I wasn't there the whole weekend, but heard there WAS a 3way tie in mens straight also. According to the committee member that ghetto-ish-ly "sounded off" in the street for everyone to hear 'locals & others were picked as judges to avoid the politics'. the problem with that is the area where the powwow was is not the home of powwow/plains cultures & the locals are not members of powwow/plains tribes. there was a vendor lady (the one who sells beads in okla) judging & she isn't even indian...To the northern visitors who traveled to this powwow.....my apologies.....

hey, i made it to this pow-wow !!!
it was good, and your right that is your opinion.
i heard about that talk that was served to the dancer, considering i think i did a good job, confronting people when they start rumors, just so happen people don't know what to think when they are confronted with the truth. maybe next time you will get the facts straight also numa.i am a very understanding person, but when people make mistakes like you maybe that someone will let you know. i sounded ghetto ,was you there. i talked to graham p. i let him know that battle river was sponsored by an area newspaper. just like gathering of nations , they are invited drums and they get to compete. so whats up???? home dawg!!
and i picked the judges because your right politics, everyone out there either had a cousin, sis, bro, you name it, they couldn't judge but next time i'll make sure your relative wins so ,you can come back next year and tell another good one!

        1. R-Krew
        2. Rocky Park
        3. Bear Shield

Other drums there included: The Horses (Host Northern),...

The grounds were lovely, the building was great. The Drum was awsum, the dancers except for a tiny handful were traditional in dress and dance. The lack of dancers was a shame, the program was not adhered to. Supposed to have been dancing and etc all day. Nothing got going til 1pm, the drum was sitting...

Congrats to all the winners at Schemitzun this year, dancing and singing in all that heat and humidity you all deserve it. This was actually my first time going back in quite a while and I must say that I was disappointed with the overall atmosphere and tempo of the pow wow. For one thing, Schemitzun...
