            Utah is scary

I was the president of activities at this college-I won't say which-and I tried to organize a powwow. But nope, the college didn't want it, the town didn't want it, but I tried anyways. They constantly tried to tell me to put a stop to it because they (LDS affiliates aka mormons) thought it was "rubbish." They told me that if I wanted it it would have to be out of town, like 50+ miles out of town and that I would have to sponser it myself, and that the college would have no part of it. To be continued...

The powwow was a success, although it was moved 70 miles away from the city and the college. Afterwards the following week the Dean told me that what I had done was not in the best interest of the college or the town, but later on the college and the dean sang another tune calling the powwow an official college sponsored event and that everthing went as planned. But they (college & town) missed out on alot economy-wise and I think thats what ticked 'em off more than anything. I think they never had a powwow again, as another Pres. of Activities step in and was far distant from powwow as can be. Come to think of it I think I was the only & first Native and non-mormon to be in that position. Anyways rural Utah is scary, well urban Utah is as scary too, but the rurals are a bit racy towards Natives.

I understand Mr. Bear has quite a setup as well ... either way, both powwows will be rockin'!
