I've been asked to be head lady dancer at our annual pow-wow, I'm very honored. I'd like to know what people think of me sharing in the cost of the feast for the dancers, drummers, veterns and elders as opposed to having a traditional giveaway? I am going to be head lady for the first time this september, 2 days after my 18th birthday. I am so honored by this, however I am not sure on what type of protocol to use for the give away. I have been to powwows where there are head dancers who aren't friendly, look mean or bored, publically gripe, show up late, don't get out to dance every dance and didn't show up at all for an entire session.
What are some expectations of good head man and head woman dancers?

When you are asked to be a head dancer do you make gifts for the people that come out and dance with you??? Do you let the committee supply gifts for the dancers????
