  • 2006 University of Arizona Wildcat Powwow

    We, the Wildcat Powwow Society, cordially invite you to attend the University of Arizona Wildcat Powwow in Tucson, Arizona at Bear Down Field - March 24, and 25, 2006. Please check the website periodically for changes and we look forward to your presence. GO WILDCATS! Travel Safe!

    Admission: Adults - $5; Students, 18 and under, Military - $3; Elders 55+ - Free (Some form of ID may be required)

    Drum and Dancer Registration: Free

    Gourd Dancing
    : Friday 5pm and Saturday 11am and 5pm

    Grand Entry: Friday 7pm and Saturday 1pm and 7pm

    Dance Contest: Golden Age 50+, Adults 18-49, Teens 13-17, Juniors 7-12, *Tiny Tots paid daily?

    Host Southern Drum: Thunder Hill (Oklanhoma)

    Host Northern Drum: Crazy Horse Singers (South Dakota)

    Host Gourd Society: South West Gourd Society

    Master of Ceremonies: Ryan Rumley

    Arena Director: TBA

    Head Gourd Dancer: TBA

    Head Man: Andrew Windyboy Jr.

    Woman Dancer:
    Tarissa Spoon Hunter

    *Please Remember- This is a SMOKE FREE EVENT, No Pets,Alcohol, Drugs, or Fire Arms permitted. The University of Arizona and the Wildcat Powwow Society will NOT be responsible for accidents, property loss and damage, stolen items, or short funded travlers.

          Do the Arizona March Madness Circuit: Canyon Echoes, Apache Gold, Whispering Winds, and UA Wildcat.

          Follow that by the Arizona April Shower Circuit: Phoenix Union, NAU, Madison School District and ASU.

                    Definitely not making this one in 2006 ... just got the word today that the committee decided to go with a local business person for sound reinforcement.

                      Will be going head-to-head with the 32nd Annual Denver March Powwow http://www.denvermarchpowwow.org/.

                      Another event at this time of the year is the Ft. Lewis Hozhoni Days Powwow at Durango, CO.

                              Hozhoni Days Powwow is the weekend after Denver March: April 1, and 2nd. So you all should come out for that.
