I was wondering that myself. We left after they retired the flag my son and parents were tired so I did not get to see who won. I forgot to ask the boys when I saw them the next moring before they left to go home.
I wanted to knw the name of the guy who won the Fancy dance special don't remember his name.

Someone had made a song line-up with a change-up on the first song (rendered by a drum group being judged) followd by a straight song from one of the host drums ...

I think this sort of got confusing when the MC blurbed out "... they didn't listen ... give them a zero!" when r-cru started out with a straight song. Then the remaining drums went back to starting out with a straight song. A few drums were upset with this ruling. This may have been the reason r-cru didn't place ... they were kicking out some good tunes!

The only thing I didn't like about the pow-wow was that they were charging a re-entry fee for Sat night after 6pm it was $2 to get back in if you left. Other than that it was a really gooder pow-wow. I haven't been to this pow-wow in 5 yrs I only went because I wanted to see and hear Little Island Cree sing........*bigfan* Havent seen or heard from them in a long time......Was told they are going to Gatherings too!

You missed out big time ... Blu Thunder was belting out some mean tunes (the Friday night intertribal and the boys grass contest song were absolutely awesome)!

First of all they announced that Blu Thunder was going to have the first song, cuz that was the drum order. Then last minute, the head drum judge changed it to R-Crew. (It was so last minute, that the dancers were all waiting in the arena. Thank goodness they had to wait for the mic, before they started.) So then the singers were trying to get the song. The drum judge never said anything about what kind of song. The M.C. was announcing it, but R crew didn't hear it. All the time the drum judge was just standing there. He should have told the drum.

That's right! I had mics set up with Blu Thunder, <Four Nations?>, and SOZ ... but the MC announced that R-Kru was up for judging. I had to make a quick change by moving one of the mics. As soon as R-Kru started the song, the MC yelled out " ... they didn't listen - give them a Zero!". Oh well, enough of this.

There was very little room left on Saturday. I got there early and left late, so I don't know how tight parking was outside. Hopefully the new building next door will have more room inside and plenty more parking spaces.

Zuni was alright. I forgot the dance results but the drum results was 1st-Rio Grande, 2nd- Black Creek (? a group from Tuba City), and 3rd- Sun Eagle. The drums were sounding good tho, I liked Southern Slam and Bow Guard was jamming!!! Overall, it was a relaxing powwow.
