Salt River Kid, For clarification it was Standing Bear not Big bear, then Unknown Drum 1 was Eagle Whistle Jrs., some very talented well known singers who got together (FREAKING AWESOME!!!), then unknown 2 was Coyote Crossing (local) and unknown 3 was Sacred Horse (Sacred Nation and part of the Horses and Old Man eagle put together).......

              Yeah!

How can you do that to us?

I was wanting to cast my votes for one of the 3 unknown drums and make it an even contest!

At least two of the "unknown" drums were the bookends! One took first and the other took fourth place. Not bad for not being known.

                  Ta',

Then I would have voted for the one "unknown" drum that "got the gate."

Sometimes I vote for the underdawg that gives it their all! *L

I recently saw an article about a drum making project that changed the lives and attitude of Native youth that were involved.

I began thinking about the drum and the many changes that have occurred in the evolution of the powwow drum.

I used to have a drum sculpture made...

As Natives, we pay great respect to the drum. In my tribe, I was taught to respect the drum, "take care of it and it will take care of you." Following this advice, the drum has taken me to many different lands in North America and throughout the world.

                    Best Drum Frame
                    by SouthernDrumSinger
                    Powwow People,

For those of you who have made powwow drums, what is the best (and most economical and sturdy) way to make the frame?

                    Thanks
