I would really try to be there.

But the date is really important. I would suggest putting the powwow close to some other powwow happening close to Cedar Point. Then more dancers might come.

And yup I see the amusement park as an attraction not a distraction.

My other questions are how are you going to get headstaff and will there be contest? Just wondering......

It's kinda like getting a band into a theme park and asking them to pay to get in. If they're temporarily part of the attraction it would only seem right that they shouldn't have to pay to perform.
That's what I'm looking into. But they do charge for bands that come to perform. It is just a reduced an admission.

I do remember as a kid going to a pow-wow that was held at a Menonite like place there were no rides but lots of shops and air con I liked that as far as girls go any way, bet some poeple would like the rides for something to do when not dancing... even if this does not work its still good to hear of one being planned

Personally I'd like to just have a PowWows.com weekend at the park and just hang out with folks and get to know them off the boards.

But I know alot of people want to dance.

Many of us pay admission every weekend for just a regular powwow. I wouldn't mind paying, expecially if the admission is reduced.

You know it will be cheaper than GON and D/M. LOL

                  back in the day

There used to be a competion pow wow at the county fair in Western NY... we had an "Indian Village" that was set up there for the duration. But we would get in for free. That was the best when i was a teenager to be able to ride the rides and walk around. At first i had my "reservations" (lol) about the idea.. but i think that it would be cool... and i can stay at emmy's aunt or grams.. LOL....JK..

How much will it cost to ride the fancy dancers?

It sounds great, especially if they cover the insurance.

Will this be the first real powwow in Ohio or are there others?

If I remember correctly, buying a ticket for admission to a fun park also waives your rights should you get hurt? Read the back. Unless it is the parks fault. So if the dancers are gonna go on rides they would probably have to pay admission for legal reasons.

Maybe the dancers costs could be subsidized by TP's or fund raisers like the powwow shirts.

                          Geographic Center of the U.S.

Location: From Lebanon, take US Hwy 281 North 1 mile to Hwy K-191, take K-191 West 1 mile to the marker.

                          Nearest Town: Lebanon, Kansas

Cedar Point, Iowa is fairly close to the "actual" geographic center for the lower 48.....however it's still too far 4 me.

Now if we're talk'n the "geographic center" of "Pow-wow America" (Canada included) it would be a lot closer to Colorado or Wyoming.

Denver would be a better choice than Cedar Point, Iowa.

I've never contested in a pow-wow where I had time to enjoy the amusement during.......but after a pow-wow----sounds like an appealing endeavor.

*After all the blah-blah-blahs.......I'll go anywhere....if it's a REAL GOOT one!!!*
                          "I'd rather be @ a POW-WOW!"

Where I live our local amusement park gets retro bands to come and play everyweekend like KC and the Sunshine Band, Bad Company, Boston, etc.

They get paid (about $7000) to come perform for the weekend.
Powwows will continue to evolve in many directions. It is inevitable.

Yeah, free admission would bring in more dancers.... Cuz it's going to be expensive to get there (flying or driving)

So I'll wait to hear the details.......

I wonder if there are any p/w.commer who would volunteer as head staff (with veto power of course!)

                                  Hello Everyone!

I have danced at pow wows for several years and there has never been an entry fee. This past weekend while at a pow wow, I received a flyer for another pow wow (different location) that is charging a $400 entry fee for each of the dance catagories. I have not see this...

We have quite a few recipes here now. Would you all be interested in me publishing them in a cookbook?

Cost would probably be $9 or under range (maybe around $5-6).

                                  Let me know!
