PowWows.com is sponsoring a special contest at this year's Red Earth Pow Wow!

And you get to decide what it is! What contest do you want to see?

The contest needs to be one that is open to men and women and have an individual winner. Other than that, we are open to all contests!

i can see northern vs southern, that can be men versus woman too. I remeber at Schemtizun they did American vs Canandian too.

Some of the ideas I had were a Trick Song, Fancy Feather vs. Fancy Shawl, or 5 song no stop endurance contest.

are you wanting a contest that is really specific?...I'm thinkin that would require some pre-powwow advertising so you're sure to get more than just a few contestants

a more general contest like round dance or 2-step can be announced last minute and still have lots of contestants

Maybe some kind of spotlight dance.

Or something like Denver March did, a "now" dance. call a random category to dance at a random time. You can judge by who was out there first, fully dressed, that kinda stuff. I liked how they did that.

I like the idea of the Switch Dance. You get all the contestants out in the arena, both male and female and let the audience decide. Some of the Switch Dances I've seen are hilarious. I think a drum contest limits it. Some drums don't have women backup singers. The Now idea is good but that only limits it to whatever category you pick out of the hat, men's or women's. Just my thoughts.
