Iron Man

An Iron man, woman contest! Let them all in the arena! This one can go on for along time if you don't have good judges to see if the dancers are really dancing or just trying to save energy. I don't like it when they turn it into a trick song contest though, I like to see Ironman contests with the good singing!

What styles?

from what i remember, the specials were all, Northen Fancy vs Southern Fancy, and then went to northern traditional vs southern traditional. then American traditional vs Canandian traditional.

Canadian vs American

I agree with this contest. One winner and one consulation.
have different colour numbers for what country they are representing.
Men's traditional: you get three styles in one contest. from full face paint, to half face paint, to just a bit of face paint and no face paint.contempory, northern, and straight. There are some golden age men that would give any one of the younger dancers some serious competition. It would be easily the biggest participation among dancers.
you could have the haywahays,rains, against the eagle speakers, and largos, and cozads and goodeagles, and many more top notch dancers throughout native country. All three styles could be represented well here.

i think the fancy feather vs. fancy shawl trick song would be a good one... but then again the switch dance would be pretty cool too... everyone has some cools contests.

I think there should be an "Iron Man/Iron Woman" contest....Fancy Dancers....dancing straight and trick songs, only a couple minutes break after every other song, until ONE dancer is left......

I think the iron man/woman is a good idea but it could be pretty difficult at the end to decide between a man and a woman dancer. I like the idea of a trick song contest because anyone can participate in it.

Being an "old-head", you know what I"m going to vote for:

NO TRICK SONG CONTEST!!!! There is no way you can fairly judge one because the dancers won't walk off and the judges most of the time won't yank them when they miss.

I would vote for a switch contest, but not if the audience is going to decide. Alot of women who dance in these take it seriously, but if you let the audience decide, they will always go with whomever is clowning around (women or men).

I like the idea of Men vs. Women Ironman, but being a shawl dancer and married to a fancy dancer, it's not really fair because the men's outfits are so much heavier (if they have fully beaded stuff, that is), even if they are stronger.

I'm gonna vote for a men's fancy dance Ironman, but make it Rookie vs. Pro........lol (instead of young vs. old). 18-34 yrs VS. 35 yrs. and older. I think it's appropriate for Red Earth since fancy war dancing began there.

OR (along that same line)

Have an old-style vs. contempt style fancy war dance special. That would be pretty cool in OK because you never know who is going to come out of the woodwork for that in Oklahoma.

You can always go with a 2-step contest also to get greater dancer participation.

Those are my ideas.

Im not sure how your going to be able to have women and men dance with each other, and have only one winner...I think that the two-step idea was a good one because the couple wins...

these are fun and exciting and everyone enjoys it, ironman/woman been done to death, so has the all-arounds,
the two step would be a second choice cause its a couple thing and both win. that's my two cents
