On behalf of my nephew, injuried on Aprill 19th 2006 Wednesday at 5:45 pm. Our family received a phone call from Souix Valley Manitoba. The emergency phone call was from my brother Amos yazzie III. We were in formed that his son Lance Yazzie had been shot in the head by one his friends who was showing off a shot gun.
The shooting occurred inside the friends home which was several houses away from where Lance lives. After receiving this call we left from Chinle AZ and drove to Winnipeg, Manitoba where Lance was taken for treatment and repair surgerys to his head.
On friday April 21st 2006 the doctors and plastic surgeons repaired the damaged area on the top and right side of Lance's head. Lance received a contusion to his brain where the bullet hit his head and the impact cause a crack to his bone tissue or skull, the bullet grazzed the right side of his head 3 inches above his ear causing a 2 inch by 6 inch gash, which caused the bone or the skull to show. Lance's surgery went very well and is recoverying. He will have more, many more visits to the Childerns Hospital of Manitoba before he fully recovers.
My brother Amos Yazzie III lives in Souix Valley, Manitoba, Canada with his four boys. The boys go to school there but they do not have any type of health or hospital coverage. Lance's injury has ran up a very large hospital bill.
We ask all Lance's friends, powwow buddys and fellow dancers for there prayers and support.
The police officers and doctors all said Lance was a very very lucky person to survive this type of gun shot wound.
And as the famly of Lance Yazzie, we appreciate everyones thoughts and prayers for Lance to recover. And all prayers and donations are welcome and very very appreciated.
THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH,
Shawn Yazzie
