I know, I know! Hopefully next year these kids will get some more for their hard work and traveling. Just a little incentive for them to keep our culture, right?
Thanks for your posts, keep them coming. If you do happen to go to the powwow, which I hope everyone does, feel free to comment the good and bad to the powwow committee. We won't know what everyone's thinking unless ya'll come tell us. We'll very much appreciate your positive comments, and take your negative ones as constructive criticism.

Please clarify the golden age categories, such as:
Golden Age women: Northern Buckskin, Southern Buckskin and No./So. Cloth is what was on the original website, but the payout flier says different...could run into some confusion at the registration table.
Also, is adult cloth, northern and southern combined? Let us know....thanks, sandy

yeah the cloth contest has always been different over there. Its always northern/southern cloth combined, then southern buckskin and northern buckskin are separate. Just a suggestion to the committee: Why not combine your northern cloth and buckskin together instead of southern and northern cloth together? This way southern cloth wouldnt have to dance a northern song, and northern cloth wouldnt have to dance to a southern song, cuz you know they will have to dance at least one song each style. Also in the past years, theres usually only 2-3 northern cloth dancers-it would be fair to put them up against northern buckskin because they dance to the same tempo, style, and song types. A southern round dance has a different tempo from a northern round dance. just a suggestion. We look forward to the celebration

yeah, that is kind of tough dancing to northern when you are southern and probably vice versa. I noticed the teens have "southern cloth" specified.
It's the same at gathering too, they combine everyone and they should have enough money to split them....i guess it's only cali, prairie island and st. croix that give southern cloth the opportunity to dance to their own songs. but at least they are having southern, you know??? Can't be too picky, I suppose. They split them a few years ago. and it was awesome.
Everyone will be at this pow wow because it is a good pow wow to attend, lots of hospitality, vendors, good singing, dancing, etc. My family is traveling down for this one!

Im really excited about this powwow, I will be attending Kinder while im home on my R&R from Afghanistan, the only real gripe i have, well its more of a whine... is I wish they were letting people purchase rooms in the CAsino Hotel. Ive stayed there in the past and really liked it, so i guess the coushatta Inn will do. But all in all I thought this was a fair powwow in the past so i will be attending. Im anxious to get out there and dance, being here on deployment makes me appreciate what we have as native people, to dance and sing in the presence of our friends and family. Cant wait!...
