Recently, my family and I attended a powwow here in Rapid City, and just about went BROKE! Even the admission alone put us back over $100.00 for the weekend. Even my four year old, who slept most of the evening sessions, had to pay $9.75 for the weekend.

I attended the Pechanga powwow in Cali over the weekend. If you attended, what did you think about the contest results? I was really disappointed in the adult divisions results. There are many reasons to go to powwows. The family activity aspect, the intertribal aspect, the dancing to a common drumbeat aspect, the comroderie aspect, the cultural aspect, etc. etc. etc.
But there are also negative aspects that deserve comment...
