    What's going on ???

I was asked to be H.M.D. at this dance ! Then I got an e-mail from the pow-wow committee that due to a conflict between factions in this group the pow-wow committee was regretfully canceling this dance !

With Great Regret The Committee Has
Postponed The 2007 Powwow Until Further Notice!

Official Committee Members: Jim Horton, Dona McKinney, Oran McKinney, Sue Strickland, Bruce Mageehee, Dwayne Skaggs and John Watson.

Please check web-site about for up to date information

Now , a NEW pow-wow committee is scrambling to have this dance, calling around trying to put together a head staff , last minute.
I would warn anyone to beware.....the original invited drum and all the originally invited head staff have been notified of the cancellation by the committee that gave the invite. Now I see the drum is from Montana , Blackfoot Confederacy

    POW WOW COMMITTEE

James Ellis, Geneva Merritt, Fran Rutherford, Lisa Thompson, Dwayne Skaggs, Gail McElfresh, Bruce Mgeehee

As far as I know the 2 factions are in a court battle and their funds are tied up in this court battle. I hope if anyone agrees to go there , they get some assurance of their funding. Gas prices keep going up and I'd hate for anyone to get burned !
I also know that the staff that they second group has listed have both withdrawn from their positions and asked to have their names removed from the listing.
    Just a heads-up !

I believe blood quantums are the governments way to breed us out of existance !

They say blood is thicker than water ! Now maple syrup is thicker than blood , so are pancakes more important than family ?

There are "Elders" and there are "Olders". Being the second one doesn't make the first one true !

Somebody is out there somewhere, thinking of you and the impact you made in their life.
    It's not me....I think you're an idiot !

There's a chance you might not like me ,

    but there's a bigger

    chance I won't care

Thanks for the info, big brother. I heard that this took place but had not heard of the second coming until now. I hope and pray all is well with you and your family.

That other drums thingy? Pay no attention to that. It pops up in some powwow announcement posts randomly. I really don't think Blackfoot Confederacy are going there. I could be wrong, but I got my doubts.

I have talked with Bruce Mageehee and he is not on this (so-called) NEW pow-wow committee and never said he would be the AD and they have not removed his name after he contacted them. Bruce is on the original committee which supported the postponing of the powwow.

We mainly wish for everyone to know the committee has nothing to do with what is going on in Salem this year.

It is with Great Regret The Committee Has Postponed The 2007 Powwow Until Next Year.

Eric Thunderbird, the one posting the other two powwows in Salem is not nor has he ever been on the committee, please do not confuse them with the legitimate committee members.

BTW they are no longer claiming the drum mentioned earlier, now they claiming two other drums.

Again please do not confuse the official committee members with what is being posted about the powwow. We do intend to continue something which seemed to be doing real well for only two years in the making. Thanks to everyone that has been part of the powwow.

Official Committee Members: Jim Horton, Dona McKinney, Oran McKinney, Sue Strickland, Bruce Mageehee, Dwayne Skaggs and John Watson.

I was shocked at how well the pow-wow did with being as young as it is. BUt All of it was great! The singing "Thank Alex and crew!" The food Dona, Angel , Leslie! and many more. But let them regroup get things settled and they will be back! The words already out that Salem is a great pow-wow! and loyal singers/dancers / crowd will be back!!! Hey Silver mouse do I know you? or have we talked????

I don't think so. I don't get out to many powwows. Maybe next year!

You would, of course, be referring to yourself and your ad hoc band of nitwits?

The true leadership of "The People" (however People is defined) decided to not have the dance this year. Disagreement does not make their ELECTED leadership any less true.

                              See you around, Ahab.

                              UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have just learned that a legal injunction has been approved, denying certain priviledges to those individuals intent upon having a dance in Salem, MO, this weekend. Clearly, this would imply a level of wrongdoing by said usurpers endeavouring to continue an event cancelled by the original Committee.

It is all rather interesting, but it appears there will be NO DANCE in Salem in the foreseeable future. While that is somewhat sad, I believe that the manner in which something is done remains at least as important as the fact that something actually occurs. For the moment, I consider this a good thing.

A LOT of people record audio and/or video at powwows; perhaps mostly for personal use, but we really don't know in all cases where each video is going or if it may appear for sale somewhere. There are some recorders are very obviously commercial; they bought huge $2500 high resolution video cameras...

Unfortunately, it doesn’t come as no surprise that the Ann Arbor Powwow has a continuous diet of the same picked staff & dance winners. I have attended this powwow for the last 8/years, and each time some families like Schuyler or Cleland end up winning or being chosen as staff with their crony...
